Dr. Huzaefah Jeelani Syed, MD

I tried to get my mother an appointment with Dr. Syed. She's 90 years old and has immune issues, which as people with them know, it takes a lot of perseverance to get them diagnosed because they present in so many ways. Rheumatoid arthritis is probably the easiest one to prove, but others like fibromyalgia are not. Point is: a diagnosis in one's medical record from someone other than a rheumatologist is rare. She has been prescribed medication (in her record) for recurring fever blisters - a sign of immune problems. Within the last 2 years, she has begun itching severely. It might be on her arm one day and move to an opposite leg the next. With thinning skin, where she scratches has left her looking like she's been beaten. With her PC physician’s referral, it took Dr. Syed’s office 5 weeks to call her to suggest that she see a dermatologist (who couldn't help her either). When she told the caller this, they were going to check on something and call her back. They called back and let… the phone ring once and hung up. The only thing I can think is that their logic is that she’s 90 and is near the end of her life. MVC/VCU used to be Richmond’s “Mayo Clinic” for the latest medical care but they’ve fallen in line with the rest of the woke medical community. The people who wrote these reviews must work in the office because I can't understand the 5-star reviews. I'm curious as to how these same people would rate the improvement in their condition. Dr. Syed and her office should be ashamed. The least they could do is have a group who calls and speaks to referred patients regarding what’s been tried, who they’ve seen, etc. in order to triage them into the office rather than just make a decision not to see them without any background or information.
