Dr. Hyun Bae possesses a completely different level of understanding and surgical skill-set that elevates him well above his peers in his field of expertise. Just look at his resume, it’s clear why he’s considered the best spine surgeon in the U.S. by those who’ve had the pleasure of being repaired by him. It wasn’t by chance that I went to Dr. Bae, I researched spine surgeons in the U.S. extensively and interviewed several before concluding Dr. Bae was clearly the most talented surgeon I could select. And he didn’t disappoint me! The entire staff at The Spine Institute Center for Spinal Restoration is very professional and highly efficient. This included scheduling my appointments, working with my insurance company, coordinating my surgeries and all follow-up appointments, including phone calls checking on my recovery progress. Tackling my complicated issue required two separate cervical spine surgeries. The first consisted of a posterior laminotomy, medial facetectomy and… foraminotomy at level C7/T1, followed 3-weeks later with a complete 2-level anterior disc replacement at levels C5/C6 & C6/C7. State of the art titanium/polymer artificial discs were securely implanted, providing me with a full range of motion and pain-free use of my neck. Both surgeries were performed at the Advanced Surgical Center of Beverly Hills on an outpatient basis, which would have been unimaginable just 5-years ago. Amazingly, my disc replacement surgery began at 7am and I was in my vehicle being driven home at 1pm the same day, wearing only a soft neck brace for the ride home, which I never needed to wear again. My recovery and pain management has been way better than anticipated. In fact, the most difficult part of my entire recovery has been forcing myself to take it easy to give myself time to heal, simply because I feel so good. It’s only been 7-weeks since my second surgery and I honestly feel like I can physically do anything without pain or limitations. I’m patiently waiting for Dr. Bae’s clearance before returning to my regular workouts, active lifestyle, and pursuit of competitive golf. My recommendation to anyone in the U.S. searching for the finest spine surgeon available to diagnose and perform spine surgery on them is to include Dr. Hyun Bae on your list to interview. Resist the urge of selecting your spine surgeon simply based on geographical conveniences. Travel if necessary, your spine is too important.

I had C3-4 artificial disc replacement surgery and feel fantastic. I was able to return to work after 2 weeks and had zero pain. I am a dentist with a busy surgical practice and am so thankful for Dr Bae and staff. Also was able to return to playing competitive tennis after 2 months. Age 62

I had terrible pain down my right leg...couldn't sleep at night it was so bad. I saw Dr Bae who did my surgery in May 2018. Three pins and screws were put in my back. Two months later after therapy I still had pain. I got an appointment to see Dr Bae. X-rays were taken before he came in. He sat down, looked at the x-rays, turned around and said there was nothing wrong with his surgery, got up and walked out of the room. I never saw him again. I could not believe it. The surgery did not help me. I still have pain in my right leg. Surgery was probably not the answer.

My wife, who is a physician, has had terrible back pain deemed inoperable by the orthopedic surgeon at the clinic in Cincinnati she had seen for past several years. Luckily, she was referred to Dr Bae by another physician she knows who had other patients with a similar story that had plphenomenal improvement when operated on by Dr Bae. As a result of all of this we came to LA and Dr Bae operated on Ann. Although she is only 6 days post surgery she already has significant relief and walking week without a walker. I also was deemed inoperable back home, but Dr Bae also examined me and quickly found the area of my problem, with almost an audible gasp while viewing my X Ray. As a result, tomorrow I am having a “diagnostic” epidural injection tomorrow tomorrow morning, which was never offered to me in Cincinnati. This injection will either confirm the problem area for future surgery or possibly offer some relief on its own. In our opinion Dr Bae is a super star

Dr. Hyun Bae did something that 7 other well-known LA neurosurgeons refused to do: take on the tough challenge of correcting a 7-year-old botched surgery. Revisionist surgery is a delicate and difficult undertaking. Everyone else looked at my spine, saw too many problems, and backed off. Dr. Bae looked at the same problems and came up with a plan to fix them. He essentially rebuilt my lower spine. As promised, he took away the constant pain, for which I will be eternally grateful. My initial surgery in 2007 was to correct a foot drop; that â??celebratedâ?? surgeon, Dr. Patrick Johnson, not only did NOT correct the problem, but created several more: a deterioration of muscles from the foot on up my entire left side, rendering me unable to walk without knee-high bracing, and with a wheelchair looming in my future. Dr. Bae arrested that progression; thereâ??ll be no wheelchair for me now! Nonetheless, even Dr. Bae, amazing as his talents are, couldnâ??t bring back what is already… atrophied. However, with the massive remnants of scar tissue and blockages removed, a stronger spine and now pain-free, I can finally attempt to â??wake upâ?? what muscles remain and, if I work hard in PT, at least bring back much-needed stability. As you can tell from my story, Iâ??m unfortunately familiar with way too many doctors. I know the difference between waking up from one kind of surgery and the way I felt waking up from this one. One guy was in a hurry, one guy was an artist. Which is why, without reservation, I can confidently recommend Dr. Hyun Bae to help others as he has helped me.

Dr Bae and his practice ARE the epitome of Obama Care with high fees and NO COMPASSION. Last year, I was referred by a highly respected colleague for a 2nd opinion. after waiting 2 weeks for an appt, I called the office to tell them I might be 15 minutes late, at which point the office staff informed me if I was not there on time they will have to reschedule. Fortunately, I got there on time and then I had to wait 2 1/2 hours to be seen. The PA took my history and 30 minutes later I was seen by Dr Bae. He made NO eye contact with me, no engaging and made a quick diagnosis and recommended a highly invasive procedure with NO explanation. I informed him that this was for a 2nd opinion at which point he made negative references about Dr. Melamed which I found very inappropriate. He was very arrogant. This experience made me question the ethics of this practice. I ended up going back to Dr. Melamed and as it turned out, I didn't need surgery. Under Dr. Melamed's supervision… and specific exercise program I ended up being pain free now. If you need a spine surgeon Dr. Melamed is by far the best and most compassionate spine surgeon you will ever see.

Amazing, saved me on many levels of worry. I am honored to have Dr Bar be so dedicated to healing. I saw 4 doctors whom scared me with needless worry. Dr. Bae brought the reality to a finite, understable knowledge for me. The absolute best surgeon!!!

Dr. Bae did a wonderful job on my back a little less than a year ago. I healed perfectly, and am now much more flexible and completely pain free. Dr. Bae is most pleasant too me, communicates clearly and listens to me. I could not want a better doctor.

Thanks to Dr. Bae I am finally fusing in my neck with 3 levels after having 2 failed back surgeries with 3 levels since 2006, and still waiting to fuse. I am grateful that I finally found a doctor that actually cared enough to help me! Thank God for Dr. Bae and his caring staff
