Dr. Hyunchul Jung, MD

Treats you like a drug addict when in reality I wanted to be on less medicine when I first saw him. He put me on stronger meds then I wanted. Then you must see him every month, which is not doable some times. If you miss a month he lectures you. Well I was out of work and had no health insurance so who's gonna pay my bill? He doesn't want to hear it. Treats people like criminals for taking their prescribed medicines from their primary care physician. He acted like I shouldn't be taking what I was, when it was prescribed by my Primary Doctor. Well you both work at the same hospital and read the same charts. How come my primary says it's okay to take something without drug interaction and Dr Jung has a fit that you might have interaction with your other medication you've been on for a long time. Treats you like a criminal. Even small mistakes like taking the meds at the wrong time he'll go off. No bed side manner. Spends no time with you. Over reacts to situations. Real knee jerk… reactions to anything you may tell him, so you are forced to shut up and not tell him anything. Doctors who don't listen to you are not good doctors at all. Go argue with my primary dr and not with me when looking at the meds I take. You are both on the same team. How can one dr tell you one thing and your pain dr tell you another? Or is that just the Carle way. This guy is a lousy doctor. I'd seek treatment else where. People just want to take pain meds to get back to work and not be treated like criminals. I hate going there and will look for alternatives.

I was diagnosed with anklosing spondylitis by doctors over 19 years ago. I have been on the same amount of pain medication for that duration of time. I have never requested an increase nor have I ever had an increase. I was interested in pursuing more alternative therapies in order to relieve my back pain without increasing pain medication. I requested Pain Management from my GP and I was sent to this doctor. The staff was very kind and welcoming but that all changed when the doctor got walked in. He is the one of the most condescending, arrogant, rude people I have ever met. He listened to nothing of my pain or the other treatment options that I brought up. He treated me like a drug addict and in a back hand way accused me of shopping for doctors. I was so disappointed by this appointment that I actually went back to my car and cried. Why does it have to be so hard to find doctors to help you when you ask for it? I would never ever recommend him or ever go back.

I have been seeing Dr. Jung for more than 5 years. First off, I would like to say that the racist review and mentions of his “broken English” are unfair. Dr. Jung’s English is very good, and he has never had a problem understanding me. When I came to him, my case was very complicated and I was on the heaviest drugs yet still experiencing terrible pain. Dr. Jung assisted me in getting off these medications and finding a regimen more helpful. He can be tough but as soon as he realized I was compliant and willing to do whatever I could to get better, he has always done right by me. I am doing so much better today. I would advise you to follow the same advice and wisdom that any patient should: be your own advocate, follow instructions, and bring someone else to appointments to help be your eyes and ears. His bedside manner might not be touchy feely, but look beyond that. You need his brain, not his heart. Give it time to work- don’t expect everything to be resolved in one appointment. If… the injections don’t work, ask for alternatives. I am extremely grateful for this doctor and encourage you to give him adequate time to build a relationship and understand your case and needs.

Had to wate almost 2 months to see him and what a joke! Was not prepared at all, wanetd to do injections when already had 8 in past two years that failed, should NOT be practicing medicine in America, then couldn't see the other doctor because I saw him. Disappointed with Carle and the lack of pain medecine doctors who are qualified and CARE enough about "white American people of Champaign" enough to help. I do not live in a third world country

Treats you Iike a pill seeking addict and quotes statistics that are about 50% accurate. Would rather put a steroid injection in you than help manage chronic pain. I stopped seeing him and went to a doctor instead.

This doctor obviously makes his money by performing injections in everyone, even if it doesn't work. He thinks steroid injections are the answer to everything, that, and monthly visits.

Act though he didn't believe. counter acting what I say.

You know when you are in a lot of pain...your patience level is not very good. Getting away from that, I went in to see Dr Jung because I was told he was the best in his field. This maybe the case, but I didn't even get that far! He came in very erratic, talked extremely fast, with broken English I might add, and barely listened to what I had to say while crazily writing down things on a piece of paper. Is this man on speed?! Wow, I was in awe..and felt like it wasn't really happening, like I was just in some kind of weird "twilight zone" episode. He then had to leave the room to speak to someone on the phone..it was then I realized I just couldn't be there, and just got up, walked out, and never returned! Never done that before! If you want help for pain, this is definitely not the guy to see. Too bad, as I said previously, I was told he was the best in his field. :o(

Normally I wouldn't say anything negative about a person, be they my health care professional or my own worst enemy, but some things just shouldn't be kept quiet about. Dr Jung's complete lack of professionalism, his horrible demeanor, his inability to understand the English language (or thereby convey/express it) to his contemporaries is appalling. He has absolutely no time for your in your scheduled appointment, brushes off or easily dismisses your own assessment of your symptoms, and has no interest in your well-being. I too share in the shock and awe that this man was given a license to practice medicine. He should be ashamed of himself, but I'm pretty sure his ego won't allow it.Trust me when I tell you to find someone else. It's imperative.

When I went to see Dr. Jung I got a strong sense of him having a severe case of "Little Man Syndrome" He was very arrogant, and also made an effort to state his presence of being there. He did nothing at all to help with my care, and there was definately troubles with his english. I am surprised that he was even administered a liscence to practice, lets just say he is not the sharpest tool in the tool shed
