Dr. I David Schwartz, MD

Dr. Schwartz forced my daughter to do a physical examination every three months even though she did not want to and she cried. Why did he have to look at her under her clothes so often, even against her will?

I really don't understand all the bad reviews about Dr. Schwartz. He is excellent! Yes, he is straight to the point and will tell you how it is and how it is supposed to be. This shouldn't be a problem. The child's A1C is going to tell him how much effort a parent/child is putting into this disease. So, don't go into a visit, acting like you know all about this disease because you don't and he will surely put you back in your place. He is here to help you with your child's journey of this disease, not to listen to the excuse game. It is every parent's responsibility to be aware and responsible for their child's disease. Dr. Schwartz cares about those who care about their disease. If you are letting your child's glucose levels get out of control and are not even trying to help, then Dr. Schwartz is not for you!

My kid liked him, and he was much more direct about what issues she was having and our options. He was the 2nd doctor we had visited and we got a more accurate diagnosis. I was surprised about how direct he was... He sure doesn't tip-toe around or mince words! I cried because eventually I realized that if I wanted to help my daughter, I had to change some things and stop putting off responsibility. To be honest I needed that, to be called on my (this site won't let me use the word I want... but I hope you can guess it). It's better for my girl. Overall I'd say he is a very fair doctor, and will be honest with you and not let you talk nonsense or blame anything, which really I guess is his job - to get to what the problems are that the kid is having and try to fix them. I'd definitely recommend, and warn: go willing to listen and learn. If you knew best already, your kid would already be managing their problem and you wouldn't need to go see a specialist.

The most memorable portion of my experience was the doctor's bedside manner. He was patronizing, judgmental, inpatient, harsh, belittling and rude. While he was informing me of my child's condition he asked if I had questions and I did. As I proceed to ask he not only interrupts me but continues to raise his voice yelling at me to talk over me. I never got the question out because he continued to talk over me. In essence it did not matter what I had to say, he is rude and behaved as a bully.
