Dr. Iakovos Konstantine Koutras, MD

Certified by the American Board of Radiology in 2008, Dr. Koutras completed his fellowship in MRI at Yale-New Haven Hospital in 2009. He joined the faculty at Staten Island University Hospital in 2009, where he was appointed Co-Chief in Abdominal Imaging and Emergency Radiology.

After graduating Cum Laude with a degree in Neuroscience and Behavior from Columbia University, Dr. Koutras received his M.D. degree from New York University School of Medicine in 2003. He completed his Internship in Medicine at NYU-Bellevue Hospital in 2004 and went on to a Radiology residency at Stony Brook University Medical Center where he was appointed Chief Resident in 2008. He has also served as Assistant Clinical Professor at Stony Brook Medical Center in Stony Brook, Long Island since 2008. He is an active member of the Hellenic Medical Society of New York as well as a member of the Society of Computed Body Tomography and Magnetic Resonance.

Dr. Koutras has presented posters and abstracts at the …Radiologic Society of North America annual meeting in Chicago. He has been published in a peer reviewed journal in orthopedics and has performed research on obesity at The Rockefeller University, New York. His current interests include MR enterography, Breast MR, Prostate MR, Liver and Renal MR, as well as playing an active role in resident education.
