Original Research
Over the past eight years, Dr. Aires and his team led a groundbreaking pilot study on the immediate function dental implant procedure of placing cemented crowns on dental implants in one visit. Results showed 100% success of the cemented bridges.
Dr. Aires regularly presents his research findings on immediate function dental implants to dentists and patients throughout the world. His original research was recently published in the prestigious International Journal of Implant Dentistry …(published in 70 countries and read by over 20,000 dentists). Additionally, Dr. Aires was one of 10 expert panelists chosen from around the world to present his research at the 2001 Immediate Loading Expert Meeting in Athens, Greece. Also last month, Dr. Aires presented his research at the 10th International Friadent Symposium in Germany. He will present again in December at the American Academy of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons (AAMS) Dental Implant Conference in Chicago, Ill.
Innovator
Dr Aires' interest in prosthodontics led him to establish the La Jolla Prosthodontic Society in 1985. This group of prosthodontists is focused on innovating procedures for the restoration of missing or badly broken-down teeth. Methods being used include fixed bridges, implant-supported teeth, and full and partial dentures.
Education
Dr Aires earned his doctorate degree in dentistry from the University of the Witwatersrand, Johannesburg, South Africa, followed by two years of advanced graduate training at the Boston University - School of Graduate Dentistry.
