Dr. Ian P Anderson, MD

A very caring and involved physician. He never rushes through an appointment. Friendly and very polite.

I loved Dr Anderson when I first started with him over 5 years ago. As my symptoms became more complicated, he refused to look further. I disagreed with him as another specialist saw more. Anderson refused to look further and dismissed me from his practice. I have no PCP now and it is difficult finding one.

Dr. Anderson is no longer my doctor as I retired and moved to Florida. He looked so young, I was skeptical first meeting him. But he quickly gained my trust. First, he introduced himself as Ian, not doctor. More important, I'm a science based guy. When I'd ask Ian about a medical issue, he would start his reply with something like, "The most recent review of the literature on that issue he Journal of the American Medical Association (JAMA) found ...." I still think about and take advice he gave me. While I found a competent doctor here, should Ian Anderson move to my neighborhood, he'll have me as a patient.

My wife, who also was a patient of Dr. Anderson, had an appointment to talk about her migraine headaches. The office has a policy of arriving 30 minutes before your scheduled time to process you. We arrived 5 minutes before our appointment time and was told we would have to be worked in. Without telling us when we would be worked in and the way the office said they would "try to work us in" left a bad taste in my mouth. We were early, perhaps not as early as they wanted, but still early. After an hour goes by my wife who has documented anxiety issues asked to speak to the office manager, who was not in. We instead talked to another manager, who explained their need for patients to arrive so early. My wife is having a small breakdown at this point. After another 15 minutes we are called back. My wife is visibly upset and Dr. Anderson, instead of soothing her, points his finger at her and chastises her for her language. He says its not fair to his other patients if he is late to see them… because someone who couldn't come on time makes him get behind. My wife has a meltdown. Yes it was uncomfortable, yes it was upsetting to watch, but Anderson did nothing but look at me and say " I cant deal with this". I was under the understanding that Dr.'s first mantra was do no harm, followed closely by heal the sick. My wife has a anxiety problem he is aware of. After I got my wife soothed somewhat, he preceded in a very cold manner to examine her and we left. One week later we each receive a letter stating that his office conducts themselves in a professional manner and they will not be able to continue our relationship with them. It is funny but I was already looking for a new Dr. because I did not want to have one that quite evidently failed his Psychiatric rotation.
