Dr. Ian N. Jacobs, MD

Dr. Jacob's is amazing. He cared for my son since birth when he needed a tracheostomy. When it was time to get his tracheostomy out and reconstruct his airway he did a wonderful job and you can barely tell that my son had a tracheostomy there.

Dr. Jacobs is an amazing doctor. His bed side manners are fantastic. More importantly his knowledge and experience cannot be matched. You dont need a second opinion when you see Dr. Jacobs because he is the best of the best! All childten under his care are incredibly fortunate!

My son just celebrated his 20th birthday last week. He has been a patient of Dr. Jacobs since he was 19 months old. It is because of Dr. Jacobs that he has had that many birthdays! Dr. Jacobs has performed 10 surgeries on my son--one of them as an emergency surgery. It was just after one of these first surgeries that he told his Dad and I that if our son hadn't had this surgery it was only a matter of time that he wouldn't be with us any longer if we had waited! One doesn't get to be a physician at CHOP by just a pretty face or a few letters after their name! It takes dedication. Knowledge. Perseverance. Training. Compassion. Caring. Self sacrifice. Now that's a big one. I'm sure Dr. Jacobs would rather have been home with his family that night when my son was admitted for that emergency (unscheduled) surgery years ago. I will be forever grateful for that one. As for that call during your office visit, letter writer, perhaps it was from a patient who had surgery from… Dr. Jacobs the day (or night) before and an emergency arose. What if that patient was YOUR child? Wouldn't you want such an attentive/responsive doctor? I know I sure would! That is the kind of doctor Dr. Jacobs is! If you need an ENT who is tops in his field, he's the man! We plan to stay with him for as long as he will have us! By the way. We don't live around the corner. We live 68 miles away! Our son was in another hospital who was unable to help us. We came across Dr. Jacobs in our research for specialists. I reached out to his office, sent our son's records and imaging Then received a return phone call within 24 hours from Dr. Jacobs himself. He explained our son's diagnosis to us and the suggested procedure that would save my son's life. Dr. Jacobs facilitated a speedy transfer from the outside hospital to CHOP and the procedure was done the next day. I feel like my son received personalize care. Our son has had a phenomenal outcome. We will continue to seek care with Dr. Jacobs until our son is 18 years old. We are forever grateful!

I wish I could give this “doctor” a 0. He is rude and doesn’t pay his patients any attention, we waited in the room for him for about 30 minutes before he came in, I understand that he had other patients but come on, to make matters worse once he was in the room he made us wait even longer before looking at my son because his phone was going off and he had to take a call, which he did...in the middle of the appointment. I don’t even think he looked up at us for a few seconds to even acknowledge us. Horrible bedside manner. I don’t know how he is a pediatric specialist, I would never want to deal with him again. Will never ever go back to him!

He ignores symptoms for a long time and is condescending to the parents

My son was diagnosed with a thyroglossal duct cyst when he was 3 about to turn 4. We battled with the situation till he had surgery this past February on two different occasions within a week of each other just for it to return. We were referred to Dr. Jacobs by the prior surgeon and more happy with a doctor I could not be. Hands down bar none the best doctor I have dealt with in this situation. We consulted him in June 2017 followed up in July with my son's prior records and new ultrasound taken, when surgery was decided and Pre opt visit before the surgery was done 2 weeks prior is where the surgery was explained in detail and all our questions answered. My son had his surgery on October 2oth 2017, it was a two hour surgery, to when Dr. Jacobs meet with me and was more than pleased with the results, which lead to me being relieved of my son's condition.CHOP in Philly is amazing I couldn't have asked for a better facility to care for my son. We just had a post opt follow up with Dr.… Jacobs on 11/13/17, he was ecstatic over how well my son looked and hugged him, which to me is amazing. My son now can just be a kid and never have to worry about not being fixed as he would say. We found the right doctor for the job and Dr. Jacobs was him. I couldn't be more impressed, happy but most of all grateful for his care and amazing bed side manner for my son. If you need an amazing ENT, he is the person you need to see. I highly recommend him without hesitation

Dr. Jacobs is amazing! He has been treating my son for 2 years now and I highly recommend him. We travel an hour and a half to see him but his knowledge and expertise make it all worth it! My family is so grateful for all he has done for my son!

If it wasn't for Dr. Jacobs and the staff at CHOP ENT, I am not sure if my child would still be with us today. I have the utmost respect for Dr. Jacobs and his team. While the office is busy and wait times can be excessive, there is not another ENT that I would trust with my child. We come from 2 hours away and I would wait 4 hours to see Dr. Jacobs. I cannot say enough positive things about him and his staff. I recommend him to all of my family and friends whose children have ENT problems.

Dr. Ian Jacobs and the airway team at CHOP are superb! We are so grateful we live just a few hours from his office, as my daughter has a rare condition and Dr. Jacobs has given us wonderful advice and care regarding my daughters airway. We have seen multiple ENT's at various institutions before finally being seen at CHOP. No mother wants to see there child in distress or undergo surgery. My child has undergone multiple procedures with Dr. Jacobs and I'm not only confident in his surgical abilities, but reassured by his warm bedside manner and his staffs overall care for my child's recovery and development. His entire team, including nurses and secretary, are remarkable. Dr. Jacobs is simply the best!
