Dr. Ian Konrad Kang, MD

My daughter was referred to Dr. Kang after a ER visit. I wish I would have read these reviews before I took my daughter to this visit. My daughter was experiencing abdominal pain for a month. My daughter also had to have a rectal with no explanation. He saw that we also had a referral to a surgeon and stated he didn't know why he was seeing her. He made us feel like we were wasting his time and very uncompassionate. Did not smile the whole visit.

Dr. Kang sat at a computer with his back to me as he asked me questions about my daughter. He seemed disinterested. He offered behavioral modifications for my daughter's constipation but didn't want to hear that we had already tried everything he was suggesting. He was condescending. He performed a rectal exam on my four-year-old daughter without any explanation or warning beforehand. She was understandably upset afterwards and he said nothing, showed no compassion and sat back down at his computer. He performed no tests and didn't want to hear that I felt like she was better without dairy. The visit was completely useless. I am a pediatric nurse and I find it unbelievable that someone would specialize in pediatrics and act in this manner.

My son has been dealing with stomach issues for three years. Dr. Kahled kept running the same tests and same medication. His symptoms continued to worsen.We switched to Dr. Kang and he ran the right tests and was persistent on finding the problem. He was quickly diagnosed with Crohn’s Disease and he is getting the correct treatment and is finally doing much better!!!

We were referred due to unexplained vomiting and discomfort for our baby. I felt like my concerns and observations were dismissed. Instead we were give some testing options to “consider” and revisit in 3 months. It’s not okay to leave my baby clearly in pain for 3 months. Didn’t seem to think she had acid reflux or a food sensitivity. She’s now doing much better due to an increase in reflux medication and removing trigger foods - thanks to our research and trial/error. No thanks to him.

After a long wait in an exam room, Dr. Kang recommended an antidepressant with major side effects for our toddler's GI issues. He also dismissed serious GI symptoms and offered little medical direction. He was rude and disengaged during each of our three appointments. Ultimately we went elsewhere and received very good care.

My husband and I took our daughter to Dr. Kang with high hopes of figuring out why for years she has sever stomach pain, constipation, flu like symptoms. Dr. Kang did not run one single test he automatically wanted to put her on a anti depressant. Our daughter is one of the happiest go lucky kids you will ever meet. He downplayed the seriousness of her symptoms and acted like it was not a big deal and as if all of her symptoms were normal Jr. High issues. We left his office in tears and feeling deflated. Especially when we received his office bill which was over 400.00 for absolutely nothing. I was not about to put my child on an antidepressant which had so many side effect. We then did research and found an all natural Holistic doctor, Dr. Kerri Fitton in Bloomington. She found that our daughter was sensitive to gluten and dairy. We took her off of both of those, put her on a strong probiotic, and she was like a different child with in a week. Dr. Kang didn't even explore the… possibility that this could be a food allergy. I will keep telling everyone to not trust him with your child's care. Extremely disappointed that we can no longer trust all medical doctors and we have to advocate this hard for our children health.

He was condescending. Did not explain the issue. Only gave treatment plan. Unfriendly to child and parent. Seemed very disinterested. Will not go back.
