Ian C. Lavery, MD, is a Staff Physician in the Department of Colorectal Surgery at Cleveland Clinic. His specialty interests include carcinoma of the small bowel and large bowel, inflammatory bowel disease, sphincter-saving operations, stoma surgery and pediatric gastrointestinal surgery. After training in Australia and the United States, he joined Cleveland Clinic in 1976 with board- certification. He serves on the Board of Trustees at Cleveland Clinic as well as numerous boards associated with national organizations. Dr. Lavery has authored or co-authored more than 200 publications as well as book chapters used as learning criteria for the specialty of colon and rectal surgery.

I have had surgery with Dr Lavery, he is an amazing doctor, and also has an amazing bedside manner ! I feel he is the best in the world !

Dr. Lavery performed my surgery for crohns in 1989....perfection. ..no meds, no restrictions on my diet...over all it was a wonderful and reassuring experience. ...thanx Doc

Dr Lavery, was very nice and took the time to explain everything to me. He has a great sense of humor and that eased my nervousness. His staff was also awesome!!

Came to him very sick and frightened. He did not tell me what I wanted to hear, but after 3 surgeries (removal of colon,j pouch to reconnect) and many difficult setbacks, I have my health back. There isn't much he hasn't seen or done, so his vast experience and skill far outweigh any other issues. I think h has a wry sense of humor and found him calming, caring, and professional. THANK YOU, DR. LAVERY!

I chose Dr. Lavery based on his skill and expertise not bedside manner. Dr Lavery is a nationally recognized surgeon whose time is at a premium ,he and his team exceeded all expectations with phenomenal results that are life changing for me. As a former patient with stage 3 colo-rectal cancer who faced a uncertain future with the possibility of living with a permanent colostomy bag it is Dr. Lavery who stepped in and corrected what cancer was trying to take from me.I could write more but my 12 year old son wants me to go for a swim then a bike ride which happily I can do effortlessly. THANK YOU DOCTOR LAVERY .

-worst bedside manners of any surgeon I've had-acts condescending toward patient and family members of patient-made multiple mistakes and then later lied about it to cover for himself

we would recommend this dr - my husband had stage 2 colon/rectal cancer. dr lavery put us at ease at our first visit and spent alot of time with us (just what we needed at the time). my husband is 4yrs cancer free thank you dr lavery
