Dr. Ian Rabinowitz, MD

His manner has always been polite and professional but he made me feel that he had absolutely no interest in my care. He made dated recommendations about my relatively rare cancer and never bothered to find out the latest treatment or recommend a specialist. He often did not up on the things he said he would and seemed to not even look at my chart as he would ask me the same questions about my surgery 3 appointments in a row. He took 4 days to return emails or phone calls. He did not give me my scan results until 4 weeks after the scan. Somehow I continually fell through the cracks.

I am extremely satisfied that Dr. Rabinowitz has been and is my primary oncologist. I have never had a doctor who has been more generous with his time and with his expertise. During my first appointment with him, he spent over an hour with me -- while I am reasonably certain he did not have an hour "booked" for me. He wanted me to fully understand my condition and know what my various options were (are). Unlike another recent reviewer, Dr. Rabinowitz did not even suggest chemotherapy. I am doing quite well under minimal medications and Dr. Rabinowitz allowed me to make my own treatment decisions within several broad options that he suggested. I have never felt "railroaded" into chemotherapy or any other treatment for that matter. He's provided me the opportunities to make my own decisions and has been more than supportive in them. Other than my "standard" office visits, I can't see that he is "making money" from the fact that I happen to have cancer and be his patient. I feel more… than fortunate to have Dr. Rabinowitz as my doctor. As a matter of fact, I started with another doctor in another part of the country who wanted me to undergo all sorts of extensive (and expensive) testing. I declined. With Dr. Rabinowitz, I have never had to decline unnecessary testing or unnecessary surgery, radiation, or chemotherapy. Am I evaluating a different doctor here (maybe by the same name)??

Dr. Rabinowitz is one of the kindest, most sensitive doctors I have ever interacted with. I came in with Stage 2 Hodgkins lymphoma 10 years after watching my own brother lose his battle against this same cancer, and I was terrified. Dr. Rabinowitz ALWAYS treated me with skill, courtesy, genuine warmth, and dry wit when needed. He was always willing to discuss my treatments in detail with me, and NEVER brushed off my concerns or fears. Six years later, now that I am perfectly fine, I am delighted to see him for check-ups, or what he now calls "purely social visits." I have no idea what those reviewers who gave him low scores (and felt justified in leaving nasty comments) are talking about, and I can't believe that they are talking about the same Ian Rabinowitz that I have known for six years.

Wile outwardly exhibiting a personable manner, this doctor has no concern for patient welfare, is sloppy in his diagnosis, care and follow-up, is extremely prejudiced and is interested only in coerecing patients to do chemotherapy, however unnecessary, and is willing to twist facts and figures in order to pressure patients into treatment courses that would be fatal to them. If you value your life and health, do not go to this doctor. There are numerous complaints and lawsuits against him and he has already been sanctioned previously. FYI, he makes $30,000. - $60,000. in commissions from the pharmaceutical companies per round of chemo per patient!!! Although salaried, he is incorporated in order to collect these funds, and lists himself on the internet as grossing upwards of a million dollars a year. 98% of his patients die within the first two years of inappropriate treatment.

Ian Rabinowitz is completely indifferent to patient health and is concerned only with pushing unnecessary and toxic drugs into them for ersonal gain of a millin or more annually. He is abusive, petty and malicious with patients and willingly puts their life at risk, going so far as to order altered laboratory reports. He is utterly unfit to be tending to patients and is close-minded, arrogant, deceitful and a liar. He will quote any number of false statistics in order to coerce patients into deadly and fatal treatment for them, which just happen to be personally remunerative for him. He has no regard for human life whatsoever.

A very smart, very caring and compassionate oncologist-who does his research- we have been through 3 occurrences with him over the past 10 years, and wouldn't have anyone else. Reviewer is a nurse working in cancer research, so I feel confident in my opinion. The city is extremely fortunate to have him.
