Dr. Ian Louis Steele, MD

I had a procedure done with Dr Steele. Very good experience. He answers all your questions and treats you like a human being not just a number. Highly recommended!

I’m a pt with complex health issues. Crohn’s and SBS. Dr. Steele has been very compassionate and kind. He addresses all issues during our visits and doesn’t have such an ego that he feels working with another doctor is out of question. He has referred me to see an SBS specialist a time AdventHealth, as needed. I trust him and I like that he involves me in my care rather than just ordering me to do things. He carefully weighs the risks and benefits before making a decision. His staff has been reachable, helpful and kind as well. I’ve seen many local GI docs over the years and he’s at the top of my list.

I was worried about having a colonoscopy but Dr. Steele reassured me the entire time. He is very easy to get a hold of and is willing to spend extra time with each patient. He is not the type of doctor that only tells you whats going on he asks questions and lets you ask as many questions as you have. I would recommend him to anyone.

My son had just gotten out of the ER and the hospital referred him to this doctor for follow up in 3-5 days. They wouldn't even make an appt because they said he needed a referral. Well, his insurance doesn't require a referral and it's amazing to think that the hospital that he works at isn't enough of a referral. He was to see a new primary care physician next week, so they actually said that he would have to wait until that to see this doctor! WHAT!?!? He just got out of the emergency room and they wanted this "doctor" to determine whether or not he should have surgery! I got his previous PCP on the phone who would have sent any information they needed, but they wouldn't even talk to that office. The worst part is that I can't give this doctor less than 1 star!

He was totally intimidated by the fact that I had taken control of my health. I use a number of supplements to great effect and have studied such things for decades and am careful and good at what I do. He TOTALLY freaked out that I was taking anything not prescribed by a doctor...even though he offered NO solutions or assistance for my issues. More experienced doctors at least accept such things, a few actually realize the benefit. Not this doctor...he is simply ruled by his fear of the unknown...even though so much is known/studied at this point. I went elsewhere.

If I could give zero stars I would. First, you can't every get an appointment when you have a problem, even as an established patient. When I decided to look around for another MD because I wanted a woman, he found out (not that I was hiding anything) and dropped me from his practice! I am an advocate for my own health, and do not feel he values that or my involvement in my own care. He may seem nice in person, but don't be misled. By the way, I am also a nurse in the community and am appalled at his actions.

Dr Steele's staff was horrible, it took them 4 times to get the prescription right, but please be warned - his personal assistant ROY is very rude and unprofessional, if you have to go to GI - choose a different doctor, because if you need a follow-up you have to deal with his staff, not the doctor :( himself.

Dr. Steele is probably one of the nicest doctors I have ever seen. Wait time at his office was low. He took time to listen to me and explain things in laymans terms. Got me in for procedures quickly and even used a bowel prep that was easier than the horrible tasting stuff that I had to use in the past. My doctor told me to see him, because he was her doctor as well.
