Terrible Dr.

Dr Ohiaeri is a uncaring,rud and not qualified to evaluate the mental health of patients. Do not make appointments with this man.

I saw dr ohiaeri for a period of time... over a year. During this time he lost his temper with me for no reason. I not only quit him I quit all psychiatrists. I tried one more after him and found equal haughtiness. I will manage without them.

I've been diagnosed with a mental illness and on medication under supervision from psychiatrists for 17 years. I've had really good doctors and really bad doctors. Dr. Ohiaeri falls in the middle. His waiting room, staff, and office is pleasant, and he always greets you with a smile. I was his patient for 6 years and because I was mostly stable, he was just a "rubber stamp." Honestly in all that time, he knows very little about me, and how could he with 3 minute office visits. I liked him because I could just tell him to refill my medication, he asks me very little, and I could go on with my life for another 3 months. I did feel frustrated that we didn't have a "relationship" and that although he is nice, the whole situation is a bit cold. I didn't feel like a "whole human" as his patient. He would order labs and say "eat better and exercise, your cholesterol is too high" in one quick blanket statement and send me on my way. That's about as personal as it got. This year I… changed health insurance and went to the only 5 star medicare HMO in California - I wont say what it is. But I've met with my new psychiatrist 4 times now. He gives me up to 30 minutes if I need it and I never feel rushed. The conversation is back and forth and he is really interested in my thoughts, ideas, and what I have to say. While I know a psychiatrist is no substitute for a therapist, it is so refreshing when the psychiatrist is actually interested in getting to know you. So that's why I give Ohiaeri 3 stars...he's better than a Doctor at county, he's pleasant to work with and get your rubber stamp prescriptions without much hassle, but he doesn't take the extra step to humanize the relationship between patient and doctor. He rounds up the cattle at 4 patients an hour for volume rather than quality.

He was very nice understanding doctor doesn't spend too much time asking really personal questions like some psych doctors do. He's very kind and willing to help. Just be careful sometimes he might recommend a medication that aren't always very good but I think he gets kickbacks for certain prescriptions. Just tell him what problems you have, anxiety or depression or ADHD or whatever and how it affects your daily life. Then he will use his extensive knowledge and try to find the right medication for you if necessary. The victorville office also is very relaxing and has peaceful waiting rooms. Be patient and willing to try what he thinks would be best. If there's no improvement he's open to adjusting or changing things up. He's a good doctor and doesn't make you feel stressed like some psych doctors do. Highly recommended.
