Dr Ilana M. Sherer, MD

Have been consulting with Dr. Sherer for years on numerous individuals and families. Very well respected and educated MD. Easy to communicate with and attends all the latest conferences and educational opportunities. The negative reviews are dangerous trolls without any evidence beyond their ill informed biases.

She's contributing to the destabilization of society by pushing her crazy ideology onto young impressionable children. She's pushing her radical sexual ideology onto her patients. If I had to guess I'd say she has some serious mental issues and should seek help and should not be in practice. Munchausen Syndrome by Proxy: Mental illness and form of child abuse. The caretaker of a child, most often a mother, either makes up fake symptoms or causes real symptoms to make it look like the child is sick.

Supports self-mutilation and delusion. Smells like fermenting pea soup.

Dr. Sherer has been my teen's doctor for 2 1/2 years. My teen is very medically complex, with rare connective-tissue disorders (Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome ("EDS") and all that comes with that, ADHD, and is transgender. We sought out Dr. Sherer from the outset of our teen's revealing their gender identity to us and not only did she spend a great deal of time explaining what was going on, listening to all of us, and finding excellent care providers and resources for us to continue exploring this facet of our child, she also emphasized the importance of taking it step by step, slowly, with the excellent advice of saving fertility options for the distant future (advice we took). Being transgender is not a "choice" or a "phase" for many, including our teen. Our teen has received top-notch medical care for ALL her issues and Dr. Sherer has tirelessly researched treatment for all our child's conditions taking into account how HRT would affect the heart, vascular system, and other complications in… this young life. The path to one's authentic self is not always easy and often comes with a great deal of recovery from living a life of pretense, as was the case with our child. Dr. Sherer has been a lovely friend when we really needed one. Our relationship with Dr. Sherer and her team and the many wonderful referrals she has made will continue for many years to come. If only there were more doctors like her!

Dr. Sherer has been our pediatrician for the last four years or so. She is supportive, respectful of kids and parents, and patiently explains her opinion/diagnosis and treatment options. She is super responsive to my emails and really went out of her way to get an expensive treatment covered for our child. The Palo Alto Medical Foundation is lucky to have her, and I'd recommend her without hesitation, particularly for kids who might be gender non-conforming or gender questioning, but she is wonderful for any child because she LISTENS. Can't say enough good about her!

I am 73 years old and I wish that many of the parents that I have know would have a Doctor like her to work with.

Traumatized our family! VERY unprofessional and ill informed and/or dishonest. Seemed unaware of basic medical protocol:Examine FIRST then diagnose..and IF deemed medically necessary discuss treatment. Instead without any physical examination/ testing whatsoever my child was enthusiastically offered lifelong medication with irreversible permanent side effects and radical surgery in the near future. 5 staff in the 'exam'room, very intimidating! Seemed to be only about Dr. Sherer's agenda, NOT my child's health.

This woman is a pathetic excuse for a doctor. What she is supporting as far as hormone therapy for a young child should be considered child abuse.
