Dr. Ileana Bernal, MD

During the time my daughter was under her care she was put on various medications that had severe possibly permanent side efects. We repeatedly sent evidence of these side effects to Dr. Bernal, as videos, and she said she couldn't open them to view them. She did send mydaughter to a neurologist who promptly reviewed the videos and sounded the alarm. I got the sense that she was just tweaking meds and not really doing anything. She is very good at looking and sounding empathetic. During this time, my daughter deterioted and became violent. She was thrown out of her school and hospitalized in a psychiatric hospital for two weeks. The hospital changed her meds. The school recommended another psychiatrist who changed her medication, including taking heroff of one medication that was at a level below efficacy. My daughter is doing quite well and has made significant strides in her mental and social development. Unfortunately she is no longer in a school that was perfect… for her, and as a result of that year where she had deteriorated, the two schools we thought were best for her would not take her. I blame this squarely on a total lack of engagement from Dr. Bernal. I consider it malpractice. I am very angry. My daughter almost ended up in a residential facility as a result of this negligance. Once we got a new psychiatrist, everything gradually improved to thepoint where sheis doing very well. This is less thana year after we left Dr. Bernal. I will never forgive her for this.

Treated my daughter for 1.5 years. Got the impression she gave up on my daughter. Literally threw her hands up in the air and said she has never seen this before. Changed my daughter's meds quite a few times because she couldn't find something that would help her. Took my daughter to a different practice. That dr said she has seen this many times and within a week had my daughter on medications that have greatly improved her behavior. The new dr makes Dr Bernal look like a first year college student taking an elective in psychology.

I would not recommend this doctor to no other person doesn't follow her ethic..And is not perfessional at all.
