Dr. Ileana Maria Esparraguera, MD

I have seen Dr E for over 20 years. She really takes the time to listen, learn what's going on in your life and is great about making top notch referrals. She gives good advice on treatments for menopause and other health issues. A great, caring doctor!

She disrespected me and other African American client in front of white clients. She raged against Obama with me because I’m African American. She told me to drink Gatorade when I had bad antibiotic reaction. Loves lunches with pharmaceutical reps and no advice on exercise and diet. Don’t recommend for African Americans.

Ileana is incredible, but her staff is terrible to the point that I dropped her as a doctor. If you call with any sort of question that they don't know the immediate answer to, do not expect to hear back - even when they give you an estimated time by which they will get back to you.

There is honestly no one I could recommend more than Dr. E. She is truly invested in her patients and makes such an effort to get to know them beyond their chart. She really listens and treats each patient as an equal. She always fully explains her reasoning behind any prescription or diagnosis and really empowers her patients with information. Her mom helps out in the office and always has everyone laughing. And she always makes me laugh a ton which is great. I really can't imagine a better doctor. She is the best of the best.

Feel comfortably

Dr. Esparraguera listens carefully, is conscientious and thorough. She anticipates health needs and makes certain that patients pay attention and complete needed vaccinations, tests, and examinations. I am nearly 60 years old, and she has been my primary care provider for nearly 20 years. Consequently, I am in very good health. I cannot recommend her highly enough.

This doctor pads her bills and if you confront her instead of responding like a professional she will send you to a collection agency. Her diagnosis was inaccurate and her billing codes were wrong. Look elsewhere for competent trustworthy medicine.

The patient rarely hears back from the doctor unless it is deemed very serious. The office manager/receptionist is very courteous in the beginning. But, when pressed even slightly for clarification of rules or patients' rights or when challenged about conflicting information to patient, the office manager/receptionist is defensive. Also, not entirely trustworthy from the patient's perspective in terms of honesty or acknowledgement that she may have made a mistake. In fact, the way she acts, it's as if she never makes a mistake in conveying information to patient. With the doctor, she is very knowledgeable. But, a routine physical boils down to blood tests mainly, perhaps prodding around in a specific place if patient asks and a rather lengthy discussion about personal matters that have nothing to do with a 'physical' check up. I get far better service from my nurse practitioner at work. Let's just say, at the end of the day, I know the doctor 'could' be a strong advocate given her… extensive knowledge. But, I'm not so sure she actually 'would' be an advocate when I need her most.

This was one of the worst doctors visits I've ever had!!!!! Her mother does not belong in a doctors office, unless she is there as a patient. These people are just really abnoxious(staff, doctor, mother). I first went to this office for allergies, they decided to take blood to test for allergies, among other things. I had to call for my results and was told everything was norman. However, when I revisited the office because of the flue.I was told I was never tested for alergies and one of my test was abnormal. I was reprimanded for not coming in before, even though I had called and was told by her receptionist that i should take what i was given. Which according to the doctor wasn't enough. At this point I was thinking, yep, not returning. As if all that crap wasn't enough she proceeded to tell me about a patient she just saw who tested positive for HIV. I was outside when this woman came out crying and got a good look at her so I knew immediately who she was talking about. Her… obnoxious mother offered the woman kleenex and made one of her stupid jokes. Horrible pace!!!

Dr. E. probably saved my life by ordering a more extensive mammogram after 4 weeks after the first one which showed nothing when I told her my twin sister had been diagnosed with breast cancer. I did have breast cancer Stage 2 which was not picked up on original mammogram. She takes time with patients and answers questions. She is direct, has a good sense of humor, and will assist in any way she can.
