Dr. Ilene Beth Spitzer, MD

I could write a novel detailing how incompetent this woman is- an absolute embarrassment to the profession and downright dangerous to her patients. The fact she has a license to practice is scandalous- where is the oversight?

An excellent psychiatrist. Dr. Spritzer is extremely knowledgeable. She is very interested in her patients progress. She has a sincere interest in her patients.

Horrible and uncomfortable. Dr Spitzer is not a good therapist. She’s cold and I really truly believe she just wants to steal your money.

Tormented my child endlessly. Has an arrogance of understanding that's misleading.

Absolutely manipulative and dangerous, violates medical ethics by exploiting vulnerable patients financially. Her goal is to get your money, file a medical board complaint if you have been exploited.

This doctor is terrible, her billing is atrocious. She is cruel, vindictive and heavily medicates children. I strongly urge anyone who has experienced this to file a complaint with the medical board.

As a patient I feel uncomfortable and on edge around her, though I trust she diagnosed me correctly. She seems cold and aloof when I try to talk to her, which makes me close up. Most annoyingly, I am unable to contact her without my parent as a middleman which is not always the best when I want to discuss something privately ( skin picking for example). My father, who normally makes the appointments is often annoyed on her lack of time to call and short notice. Lastly, her office is freezing and almost clinical in the waiting room and in the actual office all I, for one, want to do is leave.

Our family's experience of this doctor was negative and traumatic. She treated two members of my family for several years. She convinced the adult family member that she was the only one who could help and even convinced her to pay out of pocket for expenses. She charged my family without my knowledge for a brief conversation to voice safety concerns about the adult family member. This doctor did not listen to these concerns and instead did the majority of the talking. When I expressed my frustration she shared that another adult family member was aware of her billing policies- however I am an adult and why was I not notified upfront? I felt insulted that I called her, my family was charged, and I was uanble to voice my concerns. It is my opinion that the adult family member was overmedicated and this doctor did nothing to ensure safety despite our attempts to notify her that this person was losing her balance, slurring her words, and driving erratically. As a child I would grab the… steering wheel to avoid accidents while this family member was driving. During inpatient admissions the first action step was almost consistently to lower the dosage of medication, which would be returned to the high dose immediately after discharge with this doctor. It was clear that this doctor was most concerned with finances and in our circumstance not the safety and well being of her adult client along with her minor children, who upon turning adult ages informed her directly of their experiences.

Dr. Spitzer is honest and explains her fees at the outset. My family had been to several other doctors prior to seeing doctor Spitzer and we have been very satisfied with her care. She is highly competent, likeable, easy to talk to and above all...honest.

Dr. Spitzer is an amazing doctor. She is knowledgeable, available, committed and compassionate. My family has seen other psychiatrists and Dr. Spitzer outshines them all. I have wholeheartedly recommended her to others and I thank my friend who recommended her to me.
