Dr. Ilya Gelman, MD

They (medical schools) don't make them (doctors)like this anymore. When seeing Dr. Gelman I had a rare feeling that I am his only patient. He is thoughtful, careful, and very astute. Superb diagnostician. Very patient when faced with a difficult diagnosis and treatment. Several times I had to wait a bit to see him, but I simply knew that he is taking time with other patients who see their problems just as seriously as I see mine and, once my turn comes, Dr. Gelman will take all the time he needs to figure out what ails me. When I was hospitalized, Dr. Gelman would see me regardless of time of day or how busy his clinic schedule was. I know he does this for all his patients as several of us were hospitalized on the same ward and had a chance to "compare notes." He carefully reviews all diagnostic results (labs, X-ray, etc.) himself. If an x-ray or diagnostic study is not read to his satisfaction, Dr. Gelman hounded the radiologist (or in my case the pathologist) until the findings… are clarified to his satisfaction. God forbid you ever need a doctor, but if you do, I can't think of a better one in this community!
