Dr. Ilyes Benchaala, MD

Worst doctor ever. Doesn't prescribe my mom the right medicine. I called the office multiple times, left multiple voicemails, called the clinical manager and asked to speak with the doctor. I was told he would call back in 48 hours. No one calls back, they wouldn't allow us to get another appointment. Worst patient care. Stay away. My mom is going through a lot of pain and they don't care.

This doctor is by far the worst doctor I have ever been to. When asking questions about side effects of medications he does not seem to know any of them. His go to answer was always, " There are just many side effects" followed by an arrogant sound. He doesn't run required blood work, without me reminding him to do so or insurance companies. He placed me on prednisone, then during the appointment asked who told me to take that. when asked questions about pain management his go to answer is "I don't know what to tell you". I have always waited over an hour in his waiting rooms, then about an hour until he seen me in the room. He prescribed me many chemotherapy medications and then acted offended when I asked him side effects, benefits, and any other questions. He prescribed me enbrel shots, but he never explained how to used them and told me that I should ask my primary care physician. He never made eye contact. never took x-rays for my disease. when I asked him to take them he again… seemed offended that I wanted to see if the medicine that had been giving me issues was showing improvements for my joints. When asked him if there was any joint worsening joint damage in my hands he said "just a little" when I then asked for a rough percentage of progression (seeing how this is a crippling disease) he snarled and then said "just a little". After waiting four months to get into his office he then proceeded to tell me that he doesn't know what to tell me anymore. then asked me if I'm sure I even have this disease, after he had been treating me for it for two years. he is incompetent, unprofessional, and careless. I would never recommend him to anyone. I don't know how he even received his degree. I am amazed he is still allowed to practice and treat people, seeing as how he has no knowledge of these diseases, medication, or side effects. I've reported him to the state, I've also recorded the past three of our visits as reference. I suggest if you've had a poor experience with this man to report him. He should not be allowed to practice in Michigan.

At first, Dr. Benchaala was okay. All subsequent visits (despite my many questions) lacked communication. Had to pull information out of him regarding a new prescription (what it was, side effects, etc...). Only when I had enough and went to another rheumatologist did I truly understand what a competent rheumatologist was. Will never go back again!

Dr B was professional and caring. I'll be seeing him again. Although the wait was little the time to get an appointment can be challenging.

Saw this Doctor three times each time he gave me a different dx. Was rude and keep his back to me the entire time. Asked if I had pain explained yes, he told me "I told know what to tell you"

Dr Benchaala is very professional and knowledgeable and truly cares about his patients well being. My wife and I are extremely grateful and highly recommend his services.

Not a friendly Dr. Demeanor is very nonchalant and unconcerning. Negative atmosphere.
