Dr. Imad Hossni Mikhail, MD

I went to see “Doctor” Mikhail this past week complaining of a sore throat, fever, chills, headaches, and body aches. Before I was examined in any way he stated that it didn’t really matter what was wrong with me because, as a breastfeeding mother, I can’t take any medications at all. This is simply not true. After his first dismissive comment, he did what could be called a cursory examination only by the most liberal and generous definition of the word. He glanced into my mouth and told me that I had a “dry throat” and to drink water as a remedy. This is when I started to suspect that I was being dismissed largely in part to my being a woman. He would not swab my throat for a culture, chalked up the other symptoms as a virus, and informed me that I would know I had a virus if and when my other family members got sick. He assured me I would be well enough to work in two days. I leave. The next morning I wake up feeling even worse. I went for a second opinion. At the next… office, a PA listened to my symptoms and looked into my throat(without the aide of even a penlight) and immediately deduced I had strep throat. They took a culture and, of course, I was positive for the strep bacteria as I had originally suspected. At this point my 6-month old baby was beginning to show signs of irritability. I took him to the pediatrician and was informed that he now had strep throat as well. The following day my husband also contracted strep throat. So at the end of it all, Mikhail’s unprofessional and sexist conduct led to an extra day of unnecessary suffering on my part, a delay in receiving appropriate care for my 6-month old son, my husband getting the infection as well, and a day of missed wages for me. Unprofessional, sexist, and incompetent are the only three words I could use to describe this man.
