My first visit became my last visit. He was rude and talked down to me. First impressions are very important. He did not care to listen to how I felt or get the history. He told me everything I was feeling has NOTHING to do with my medical condition. I was diagnosed at 12, I believe I know is and is not related... The staff is very unprofessional as well. They had to take my weight and vitals several times because they would forget to put in the system then left me sitting in the office waiting again for the doctor for over 30 minutes.

He is clueless how to interact with patients or treat Thyroid disease. He just relies only on the TSH test and believes all other tests are meaningless. He told me he doesn’t treat symptoms. Stay away if you want a good and caring thyroid specialist.

One of the most unsympathetic doctors I have had (condescending, flip, arrogant), which would be fine if his diagnoses and treatment approaches were accurate, but they weren't. He first failed to diagnose my hypothyroidism completely because he didn't test Free T3. I went through years of suffering because of that. When my hypothyroidism was finally acknowledged by another doctor (b/c my TSH finally got high enough), he prescribed Synthroid (which it turns out I am completely unable to tolerate). I had terrible heart symptoms and started losing my hair. His response: "What's so bad about being bald? I'm bald." (I am a young woman.) Despite the heart and other symptoms he told me to keep increasing the Synthroid. Long story short, I eventually found another doctor and learned that I can only tolerate and do well on Armour (natural thyroid hormones), and that I can't judge anything by my TSH levels. Only Free T3 and Free T4 matter. The doctor constantly negated my own experiences and… thinks he knows patients better than they know themselves. The results can be disastrous.

He was the absolute WORST doctor I've ever seen. He didn't want to tell me my test results because I told him what I was feeling and what I thought it was and he said, "no. Absolutely not! That is not what it is..." And, I was right. He was wrong. It took almost a month to get the final test results back. Absolute arrogant jerk!

I went to several endocronologists, because I had an iatrogenically-induced case of hypothyroidism No one could help. Dr. Chopra is beyond thorough. He's patient. He cares, and he fixes the problem! Each visit is proceeded by a full blood pane, which is also sent to my internist. I love Dr. Chopra! (I think it's sad that raters gave "poor" to his bedside manner. I must add two things to that. 1. Be patient, he becomes far warmer, when he knows the patient. He seemed somewhat aloof and professorial in my first meeting, but now he takes my hands in his and listens carefully. 2. He is a professor, and is often teaching others as he deals with us. I feel good to be contributing to the help of others, yet his focus is on his teaching. Seems appropriate. The staff is GREAT! One only has to remember their first names and be confident.

I went to Dr. Chopra for a second opinion on an inconclusive FNA biopsy on a small thyroid nodule. Nothing about this nodule points to cancer, except for the "inconclusive" result that was received on my first biopsy. Size, number, my age, my gender, presence of autoimmune antibodies all contributed to the odds that the nodule was benign. Nonetheless, Dr. Chopra's advice was to go the extreme route and have surgery to remove half my thyroid. When I pressed for another, less invasive approach to determine whether it was malignant or not, he offered to run the test again, but warned me that if the result was still inconclusive, then he would again advise surgery. I began to cry--softly, at which point he seemed uncomfortable and began telling me how he was just answering my questions and had assumed that I could handle his answers. I found myself reassuring him that I was not crying because of him, only that this situation was difficult for me.I never went back. I now have an… excellent endocrinologist and an herbalist who are helping me to lower the antibodies and increase my overall thyroid health. I still have my thyroid and the nodules have not grown, and are considered by radiologists to be stable and most likely benign. BOTTOM LINE: Thyroid disease is tricky--the medical industry is still learning a lot every day about it. In my opinion, if you want the latest information and care techniques, skip Dr. Chopra.

Dr. Chopra is awful. When my lab results were abnormal and he couldn't explain them, instead of testing me further and looking for an explanation he accused me of taking drugs to alter the results. I am in my 20's and at the time I was in college and he told my mother that I was likely surreptitiously taking drugs because I was stressed out. Needless to say she didn't believe him, and I turned out to have a rare and dangerous tumor. I would not recommend anyone go to him.
