Dr. Inderpreet Singh Dhillon, MD

I was shocked to learn that Dr. Dhillon has left Kaiser Permanente Behavioral Health. Honestly, I can't say I blame him. Kaiser's mental health services have deteriorated alarmingly. Where there was once a semblance of care, now the system seems designed to benefit Kaiser at the expense of its members. From my personal experience, after seeking mental health support, I discovered the disturbing practice of Kaiser management retroactively inserting inaccurate information into members' permanent medical records. This was done without any direct interaction with the patients, seemingly to protect an unlicensed subordinate or, more broadly, to shield Kaiser itself. When confronted, they hid behind HIPAA, refusing to correct their egregious errors. My decision to seek help from Kaiser was one of the worst I've made. It was only after my ordeal that I learned of a multi-million dollar class-action lawsuit against Kaiser's mental health division, highlighting many of the issues I faced.… The suit was entirely justified based on my experience, but due to my aversion to litigation, I didn't "cash in." Dr. Dhillon, despite his promotion to a leadership role, appeared to have less autonomy than when he was simply a practicing physician. It appeared he managed to navigate the corporate expectations admirably, maintaining the company line as any major institution would demand. However, it must have been soul-draining to be powerless in correcting evident wrongs for even a single patient. I genuinely believe Dr. Dhillon will excel as a remote psychiatrist and hope, because of his easy going nature, he wasn't used as a Kaiser scape goat. I pray this move allows him to thrive personally and professionally, free from the constraints he faced at Kaiser Behavioral Health. He's compassionate and gives every indication of genuinely wanting to help his patients. I wish him all the best and hope he finds more empowerment in his new path.
