Dr. Ingrid Rodriguez, MD

MY SON WAS IN THE ER, AND IT WAS DR. INGRID THAT SEEN HIM THIS DOCTOR WAS VERY GOOD AT LISTENING TO MY CONCERNS FOR HIM,AND SHE DID NOT KEEP US IN THE ER NO LONGER THEN NEEDED.

Got a bill in the mail from my daughter's delivery at Bixby Medical (actually in the ambulance on the way there) for $796. My insurance adjusted about $550 off leaving me to cover the rest but SHE NEVER SAW MY DAUGHTER. I called to protest the charge and they stated that sometimes providers charge even if they don't provide actual patient care, like if they just open the chart and look at it. Well I can guarantee that's what happened here. I know for a fact this lady never saw my daughter, just trying to get money like a shyster.

If you find yourself at ProMedica Herrick Hospital Emergency Room, and Dr. Rodriguez is the attending Physician at that time you need to ask yourself "Do I feel lucky?" If you are willing to gamble with your life stay and let her treat you, but if you are not willing to take that bet run, do not walk to a different hospital. I had the misfortune of needing to seek emergency medical treatment for extreme abdominal pain and went to ProMedica Herrick Hospital where Dr. Rodriguez was the Dr. that was on staff that night. While I was given pain medication and Dr. Rodriguez did order lab work and a Cat Scan things went rapidly down hill from there. My Cat Scan results came back and Dr. Rodriguez came into my room and informed me that the CT showed that I had diverticulitis and that I would need antibiotics to treat the infection in my intestine and they started IV antibiotics and told me that once the IV was complete that I would be discharged. I had questions about the CT results and… when I began asking Dr. Rodriguez the questions she appeared agitated that I was questioning her and gave me the impression that I was annoying her and then offered to show me the actual scan when they removed my IV. After the IV was removed Dr. Rodriguez came back in shortly afterwards and although the pain was much less because I had, had morphine and toradol I was still feeling uncomfortable and within minutes this uncomfortable feeling turned into the most excruciating pain that I have ever experienced and when I told Dr. Rodriguez this she once again seemed annoyed by me as if she wanted to just get rid of me. I asked about the IV and she said that because it had already been removed that she would have to give me something oral by this time I was also severely nauseated and told her that I could not swallow anything and she made it clear by her attitude that having the IV put back in not only was not necessary it was simply not an option at this time I had to rush to the restroom and began vomiting and having diarrhea at the same time and the color of my vomit was like dark green spinach (I had virtually nothing to eat all day). Not only did Dr. Rodriguez not check on me while I was in the bathroom she did not seem to o concerned about what I was throwing up. She gave me the pain pills and something for my nausea to take home with me and discharged me in a wheel chair with a basin to take with me in the event that I became nauseated while being driven home. Once home the pain became so horrific I could not move, and waited for 2 hours before I called my pregnant daughter who also happens to be a Nurse Practitioner, when I described the pain that I had been in and what my vomit had looked like she was quite alarmed and said that she was coming to get me and take me back to the ER...a different ER. When she got there I could barely walk to the car the pain was so intense. We arrived at the Chelsea St Joseph Mercy Hospital ER where they immediately took me in for an abdominal x ray. When I heard the results I thought that it had to be a mistake it was like being awake during a terrifying nightmare. The hospital had called in a surgeon who proceeded to inform me that I had a macroperforation of my distal sigmoid colon and peritonitis which was causing me to become septic. I would need emergency surgery to remove the diseased part of my colon and clean the infection from my abdominal cavity and would also need to have a partial colectomy...a colostomy. I was in shock and all that I could do is look at him and cry. My daughter had my CT results from ProMedica Herrick Hosptial that I heard her read to the surgeon that the results of the CT indicated a likely micro-perforation as evidenced by a few small bubbles of extraluminal gas and small amount of free pelvic fluid, and she sent me home. Then she asked that I be given a few moments to take all the information that he had just told me in and he very sternly said that he was sorry but that I did not have a few minutes. I was then told that I would be prepped immediately for surgery. The outcome...I came out of surgery with the end of my intestine sticking out of my side and a colostomy bag, but I was alive and at that moment although I new that I was lucky to be alive I did not feel very lucky. I gave Dr. Rodriguez 1 star as her overall rating solely because this site required a rating, but my very honest rating of her as a Dr. is negative 5 stars.
