Dr. Ingrid Tuxhorn, MD

My son was from 2001 to 2005 patient of Dr. med. I. Tuxhorn in Bielefeld / Bethel in Germany. She asked every visit what we would suggest, what to do. Investigations were made, long-term EEG and implantation of a VNS. The cause of epilepsy has not been adequately studied. Upon request, if at some point genetic tests could be made so that the cause is found, this was rejected. Since Dr. Ingrid Tuxhorn was regarded as a Coriphäe in their field, we stayed with her. When switching to another doctor, he initiated genetic tests that brought to light Dravet's syndrome. Our son got a counterproductive drug for years, namely Lamictal. I can not say that I am very satisfied with the treatment under Dr. Ing. Ingrid Tuxhorn was and she did not help us either. From nearly 400 grand mal seizures a year ago, we now have another medication for the syndrome, only about 50 a year.

We found Tuxhorn to be very dismissive of our child and his diagnosis. She was of no help, her bedside manner was demoralizing. We left there upset and so confused.

Dr Tuxhorn was compassionate, a good listener and gave us excellent options for further care of our child. We trust and appreciate her
