Dr. Ioana Madalina Diaconu

I have seen Dr. Diaconu several times over the past few years and at first I did find her off-putting. She is blunt and direct. In the middle of my episode those two traits were intimidating and felt pushy. After I exited crisis mode I was able to appreciate her treating me like an adult who can take care of myself and make my own decisions based on the education and recommendations she provided. Overall she is knowledgeable and treats a whole person not a diagnosis.

Exellent Psyhciatrist, great care, listens to you and gives good advise and treatment care. I have been a patient for 6 yrs and always given excellent care.

Dr. Diaconu took the time in knowing me as a person. She makes you feel like you're not just another patient passing through. She is very attentive, precise, and truly care about her patients. I've been her patient for 6 years, and I never had any issues with scheduling or pharmacy call them for refills.

dr. Diaconu is a great doctor. I start seeing Dr. Diaconu about 6.5 years ago. I was diagnosed with major depression and bipolar and other mental illnesses. Dr. Diaconu works with me and I continue to see her regularly. Dr. Diaconu has helped me a great deal. I would definitely recommend my friend to see Dr. Diaconu if they need help in Psychiatry and I am very glad that Dr. Diaconu is my doctor. She is a wonderful, caring , loving and a professional doctor.

I saw Dr. Diaconu while I was at Fairfax Hospital. She was uncaring and misdiagnoised my depression as bipolar! I would never reccomment her to anyone!

I have been working with Dr Diaconu as a patient for the past year and I feel fortunate that my insurance (Aetna), is accepted so that I may continue as her patient. Dr Diaconu listens and she has helped me to understand my diagnosis and educates me along the way. I can trust her and I do. She is a solid professional and I believe she sees me as a whole, versus a diagnosis. I would and have referred a friend to Dr Diaconu.

Dr Diaconu was very successful treating my depression. She succeeded where 3 other doctors failed, and did it very quickly. She is always nice and very accommodating and caring. She is a thinking person and a good listener. I would recommend her without hesitation to my friends and family.

Dr. Diaconu has been my doctor for over five years now and I think she is very caring, compassionate and knowledgeable. She has helped me manage my mood disorder through crisis and calm times in my life. I don't know what I'd do without her.

Went to see Dr. Diaconu for meds management for Panic Disorder. I have been diagnosed and treated for this issue twice before in the past with paxil and was successful for large amounts of time previously. I am currently seeing a General Practitioner and Psychologist who agree with my meds regime. Dr. Diaconu was very negative about it and made me feel horrible about what I was doing to combat what can be a very disabling issue at times for me. I did not feel she listened to me, and in fact made me question whether I had bipolarism instead of panic disorder (which I clearly do not). The visit was so horrible that it put me in a very depressed state for the next couple of days until I saw and vented my frustrations to my psychologist. He calmed me down and worked me through my concerns and I feel much better about it now. I do not like to be bitter about anyone in their professions, but when you meet someone for the first time (ANYONE), I feel that you should put on your customer… service face. In the simplest of terms, I could not have had a worse experience. It was as if someone specially designed the visit to make me feel worse. Would not recommend this doctor to anyone unless you need extremely cold and emotionless structure to your recovery. If there was a star rating lower than 1, she'd be there.

Cold and callous. She never addressed issues, would stare at me and be very cold and dismissive to my concerns. Wants to rush people out of office within 20 mins, Just listens doesn't offer any advice or reply to questions.
