Dr. Ioana Maria Naumescu Shirley, MD

I've been seeing Dr. Shirley for about 9 months now. Sometimes being happy with mental health services has a lot to do with how you click on a personal level with the medical provider, but objectively speaking I think Dr. Shirley is caring, passionate about her work, and gritty in finding a correct diagnosis and best treatment plan. She has caught things others did not — or rather, interpreted my symptoms differently than previous professionals — and also encouraged me to pursue a different type of therapy than she provides when we decided it would best suit my needs. I have thrived under her care, very thankful for her presence in the Birmingham area.

This doctor has serious issues, she should be evaluated herself. Aa a parent any doctor that encourages a emotionally disturbed young child to explore their sexuality, and tell the child to be free and do what makes them feel good has issues. I was shocked at the advice that she gave my son. Juse because she may live her life that way she shouldn't give emotional disturbed kids that advice.
