A terrible experience. I had an appointment for 4 months and the doctor’s office called the day of the appointment to tell me not to come in as Dr Papagiannis does not prescribe my particular thyroid medication. They told me they would call me back with a referral. Instead, they called back an hour later and said I needed to find an endocrinologist on my own. My thyroid has been low for 4 months and I explained that it could take months to get in to see another endocrinologist. They didn’t seem to care.

I have been seeing Dr. Papaginannis for about 2 years. I have been under cancer treatment for 7 years and developed some issues as a result of the cancer medications. Dr. always treats me with respect and takes the time to explore options. While he does have a Greek accent, he takes the time to make sure I understand the issues and the course of treatment. As a result of the cancer meds, I have not reacted as expected to treatment. Dr. Papagiannis takes the time to review options, gets my thoughts and opinion and guides me to a decision.

I was nervous after reading reviews here but recently saw Dr. Pappagiannis for a thyroid biopsy and thought he was wonderful. He introduced himself, explained his thoughts on my case and made me feel empowered in my decisions. I appreciated how thoroughly he explained the thyroid structure and when we opted to continue with the FNA he put me completely at ease for the procedure. Everything was explained well and he had a wonderful bedside manner - I had a relative with me and she agreed he put her mind at ease and made her feel comfortable with the situation as well. He joked when appropriate to relieve tension and was serious in the times that warranted it. I was extremely impressed and had an experience that was the complete opposite of any one star review here - and biopsies are not a fun visit for anyone. His expertise minimized the passes he had to take to get the needed samples and my pain post procedure was minimal. Prior to my appoinent I had scheduled a follow up appointment… with another physician to get established with KUMed endocrinology but if his office offers one with him I would not hesitate to switch.

Although friendly enough and seems experienced, Dr. Papagiannis appears to be inadequate in dealing with things outside of the most basic, simplistic endocrinology concerns. I assumed, wrongly, that he'd be able to think outside of the box and help me to feel better. He's like 80% of the other MD's in the USA - basis everything off of the standard "scale" and doesn't listen to how a patient is feeling or look further into test results or symptoms. It is unfortunate that patients are continuously dismissed by their doctors even though we are the ones paying their salary and asking for their help.

I am diabetic and was enrolled in the Diabetic clinic of Vanderbilt in Franklin TN. I felt that he did not give me adequate services. He did not spend much time with me discussing plans for improvement. I did my own research for improving my health and paid specialist fees for services not rendered.

Felt confident he gave me quality care he needs to work a little on bedside manner is all
