Dr. Ira Mitchell Bergman, MD

Dr. Bergman has been my doctor for at least a decade now and has helped me through constant bouts of depression and anxiety, especially during trying times like the 2008 financial crisis and the current pandemic. He always listens to my needs and is available whenever I reach out. I don't know what I'd do without him.

My experience with Dr. Bergman, was also great, he helped me go through the hardest time in my life, without his acceptance, and acknowledgement I would not be where I am today. His office is run smooth, they either answer or really get back to you w/in the same day if you call in the morning, and the environment in the waiting room is calm with an unspoken acknowledgement that everyone in the room is receiving good, honest care, plus, no waiting! I had an insurance issue where I was being overcharged, and spent many hours for weeks on hold and being told misleading things, and they not only were able to help me, but put in those hours themselves and fixed the issue

Dr Bergman is able to diagnose based on my behaviors, and my choice of “personal medications” and his deep empirical knowledge of others who have suffered similarly. His knowledge allows home to narrow the effective drugs so that I didn’t have to try and try before finding one that works for me.

He is so indifferent to his patients that crediting more than the minimum one star would create an expectation of a doctor patient relationship that won't happen. He makes no connection with his patients. Never once saw him smile. He'll drop you as a patient without any compunction and if you tell him anything about your personal life, he'll say you're "unloading." In the plainest words, seeing Dr. Bergman feels bad.

My experience as Dr Bergmans patient has been excellent. He communicates very well and he makes extra effort to help deal with difficult issues.

I was shuffled over to Dr. Bergman after my doctor passed away unexpectedly. I was unsure if this would be a good fit for me initially. As some of the comments mentioned, Dr, Bergman can sometimes seem detached during an appointment. It took me 5 years to realize that this is not a negative. He makes it clear that his goal is to work with patients to help them reach an optimal quality of life by integrating carefully monitored prescriptions. He has singlehandedly guided me through the death of my fiance and the crippling grief, anxiety and depression that followed. I have showed up without an appointment and distraught and he's always found a way to fit me in; albeit with a mild slap on the wrist (deservedly) for not following office protocol. He is very prompt. And during our appointments he looks over my current meds and asks questions. He's been very good about the depression and anxiety that comes along with the death of my fiance and is responsible with his prescriptions. His is… quite a busy office: phones ringing constantly, patients arriving late (me included), patients hovering over his administrative assistant's desk. Donna has been a lifesaver at times. If you're looking for someone who's going to cozy up and listen to hours of lamenting over the state of your life and give you a great big hug afterwards, maybe Dr. B isnt for you. But if you're a busy person with a tight schedule and do not want a cuddly old doc who cracks corny jokes and rambles on but instead gets the job done efficiently, professionally and consistently, this is the doctor. He's no frills. He doesnt coddle. He figures out the issue, develops a prescriptive plan of action, and follows up on the outcome at the next appointment. He has gotten me through some extremely hard times. He's also allowed me to sob in his office and given me soothing encouragement and support. I'm not going in there to moan about my boss and my mother and all the rest of life's speed bumps. I'm there for a practical prescriptice solution. Rather than up my doses he has always set out to incrementally lower my dosages when he feels I'm ready. For that I am grateful. I actually ventured off to see another psychiatrist that was rec'd by a friend. (I was riddled with guilt for my doctor patient infidelity lol). But one session with him left me running back to Dr. B. If you find reason to post negatively, I urge you to see what else is out there. For me, he's the perfect fit. He looks at me while I speak and constantly adds notes to my file. And then he sends my prescription to my pharmacy. And I'm outta there! If you really want someone who will sit back and doodle on his notes for 40 min while you moan about all the awful things in life, go to a psychotherapist. That's their deal. Personally, Dr. B has guided me thru an unimaginable amount of grief and has done so with patience, professionalism and a strong foundation of knowledge.

He is so cool and aloof. While he is tech savvy and sends out a reminder of your appt, sessions last only 10 min. w very little eye contact and lack of empathy. He seems bothered when I ask him to change things. Or be informed of diagnosis. Always a pile up in the waiting room. Insurance covers him but that’s all to recommend him.

I experienced a total burnout and was 'out of commission' for several months. Dr. Bergman guided me during this difficult period and kept trying different medications until he found the right 'cocktail' that allowed me to regain my full strength. In a couple of days, I will return to work, totally energized and self-confident. Thank you, Dr. Bergman!
