Summary

Dr. Ira Deming received a Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy in 1981 from the University of Maryland, School of Pharmacy. He obtained a Doctor of Podiatric Medicine degree in 1985 from the Temple University School of Podiatric Medicine in Philadelphia, where he was awarded the Harvey Haber Award for excellence in clinical diagnosis.

He then completed a 24-month residency in reconstructive foot and ankle surgery at Metropolitan Hospital-Parkview Division in Philadelphia, where he received extensive training in forefoot, rearfoot, and ankle surgery, limb salvage and wound care, pediatric foot surgery, and trauma. He entered private practice in Montgomery County, Maryland in 1987. Dr. Deming is Board Certified in Foot Surgery by the American Board of Podiatric Surgery. He is the 3-time past chair of the Subsection of Podiatric Surgery at Suburban Hospital- Johns Hopkins Medicine and a long-term member of the credentials committee at Suburban where he is an attending member of the medical staff with surgical privileges. He is also a member of the surgical staff of The Suburban Outpatient Surgery Center in Bethesda Maryland.

In addition, he is a member of the on-call attending staff at the Emergency Department of Suburban Hospital for foot trauma. Dr. Deming was appointed by Governor Paris Glendening to a 4-year term in July 2000 to the Maryland Board of Podiatric Medical Examiners and was reappointed by Governor Robert Ehrlich to a second 4-year term in 2004. In 2005 he was named President of the Maryland Board of Podiatric Medical Examiners.

In 2012, Dr. Deming was named to Washingtonian Magazine's "Top Podiatrists". Dr. Deming is a nationally recognized expert in podiatric standards of care and is a consultant to Forensic Medical Advisory Service, American Forensic Medical Service, and Medilex Corporation. He has served as a consultant for peer review cases for the US Department of Justice, The Maryland Attorney General's Office, The Veterans Administration and The US Department of Defense. In addition, he has served as an expert in cases involving hospital credentialing.
