Dr. Ira Lynwood Flax, MD

I made an appointment with your office, and received a text message and cancelled the day before. Now I'm fighting a $65.00 bill because according to your RUDE billing assistant i cannot Prove that i cancelled. She said unless i can show a photo of my phone text they have every right to charge me. Please make this right, you are the head doctor, i've tried several times to contact your office or someone else in billing but you have NO contact info or email info on your very busy website.

When I saw Dr Flax as a new patient he listened to me, actually listened to me. And instead of jumping to procedures or scans he planned to evaluate me by my response to symptomatic treatment. Worked wonderfully and I wasn't subjected to costly unnecessary tests!

I am cautious when selecting doctors. Because they and their staff have your medical needs in their hands, I would never be discourteous to a doctor or their staff. So, be aware of this doctor with "passive aggressive" attitude, and his rude nurse (Lynette). The front office staff (Sami) is very cordial and professional. In order to prep for the colonoscopy, they will write a prescription for the MOST expensive prep kit on the market. Their are other affordable alternatives. He also has a Physicians Assistant (PA). She is ok, mostly have to see the PA, instead of the doc. He was LATE for the scheduled procedure, no excuse. When I recovered from my colonoscopy, I was verbally reprimanded that I did not properly prep. Though, on my discharge papers it showed a clean colon and pics of a polyp he removed during the procedure. When I recovered from the procedure, I noticed I had a brown spot of "something" swiped across my nose. Note, my face/nose is on the opposite side of my… body, and during this procedure. How did it get there?

Don't know how he is now but hope he's improved. I needed gall bladder surgery and he kept telling me I had ibs. When gallbladder attack took me to the emergency room I was finally diagnosed correctly. Also misdiagnosed my 14 year old nephew as having ibs when in fact he had Crohn's disease that landed him in the hospital at the medical center where he was finally correctly diagnosed.

I've been through a few doctors over the past years as I've been moving, and in all honesty, Dr. Flax is the best I've come across. He took the time to really listen to my history, and paid attention to the details. So much so, that he caught discrepancies in my time line and everything. It seems many doctors just listen for a few key words and jump to a diagnosis. Dr Flax was different though, he truly listened, and as a result - my issues are finally under control. I just wish I could find a PCP as good as him!

Today I had an appointment as a new patient and was a little nervous however, after meeting Dr. Flax I started to feel more at ease and comfortable with him. I felt like he listened and cared about my concerns and wasn't in a hurry to rush off to the next patient. He seems very knowledgeable and I felt comfortable with discussing my health issues with him. The office atmosphere in the reception area is nice and comfortable and the front desk staff were friendly and professional as well as the other staff that I had encountered. I was very happy with my experience today and adding Dr. Flax to my list of favorite physicians and will definitely be going back.

We think he is the best Doctor in Houston.Very caring.We highly recommend him.We have always been able to see him immediately when needed. Very short wait period. His staff is also very caring and knowledgable.
