Dr. Irene Koskan, MD

Wish that this fine lady doctor could still be in my life to help me out. But I since moved to Colorado where the doctors here are not so friendly and have no bed side manners to speak of. If only we could go back back in life.

When you can't get Dr. Koskan and you get Dr. Haque who's filling in for her and he doesn't know how to get in touch with her, that's insane. We have a family member in a lot of pain, in a nursing center. Four days ago when this occurred, the N.P. for Dr. Koskan was concerned enough to send him to emerg. at Gulfport Mem. They took care of problem there. He is a liver transplant (waiting) and N.P. knew the nursing center could not handle what "maybe" patient needed. Gulfport Mem. handles it very well and instead ofhaving patient transferred to his transplant team at Ochsner in N.O. sent him back to nursing center after a morphine shot and told him to rest and sleep since they were familiar with his type of problem. Dr. on call will not/cannot order any liquid pain med to nursing center "he doesn't know patient", take him to emergency room He doesn't know what that entails, getting an ambulance, gurney, etc. Not acceptable svc from covering physician!

It is a shame she closed her practice after Hurricane Katrina and went to hospital staff. She is loved by virtually ever patient she has ever seen. She is accurate with a diagnosis and actually cares about her patients.
