Dr. Irene D. Lytrivi, MD

Irene D. Lytrivi, MD is a board-certified pediatric cardiologist specializing in pediatric heart failure, heart transplantation, cardiomyopathy, and congenital heart disease. She cares for infants, children, adolescents, and young adults with both common and complex heart conditions, providing compassionate, family-centered care and partnering closely with patients and their families throughout every stage of treatment.Dr. Lytrivi earned her medical degree with high honors from the University of Athens School of Medicine in Greece. She continued her postgraduate studies in endocrine physiology before moving to the United States, where she completed her pediatric residency at Monmouth Medical Center in New Jersey. She then completed fellowship training in pediatric cardiology, followed by an advanced fellowship in non-invasive cardiac imaging at Mount Sinai Medical Center. To further expand her expertise in caring for children with advanced heart disease, she completed specialized …training in pediatric heart failure and heart transplantation at Boston Children's Hospital. This extensive training has prepared her to care for children with some of the most complex heart conditions.Dr. Lytrivi is actively involved in research focused on improving outcomes for children undergoing heart transplantation and advancing treatments for pediatric heart failure. She has led and participated in numerous national and international clinical studies, authored many peer-reviewed publications, and has helped shape best practices in pediatric heart transplantation and advanced heart failure care.Dr. Lytrivi is passionate about teaching and mentoring the next generation of pediatric cardiologists. As a faculty member at Columbia University Irving Medical Center, she educates pediatric residents and cardiology fellows while helping advance innovative, evidence-based care for children with heart disease.
