Dr. Iris A Castaneda-Vanwyk, MD

I used the title (Biased Rating) because Iris is married to my brother. While that certainly affects my opinion of her, it also means I have a unique perspective as I have known her from before she attended medical school. From a personal standpoint, Dr. Iris is one of the most self-less, wonderful and compassionate individuals I have even known. From a professional standpoint, my wife is one of the toughest critics around, and spent countless hours researching doctors before selecting Iris to take care of our (now) two sons. Everyday we are thankful that Iris is a part of our family, and our boys doctor.

Dr. Iris is great with children and is an amazing doctor. She is so dedicated and loves each and everyone of her patients. She is a huge blessing!

There are so many things I like about Dr. Iris, that I'm going to list them as bullet points: - My kids love her and because of her aren't scared to go to the doctor's. She is so gentle and sweet with them. Listens attentively to not only what I have to say, but what they have to say. She is a genuinely wonderful person, and it shows in her bedside manner. - She listens to my "mother's intuition." Look - a mom just knows when somethings not quite right. Of all the people in the world, I have spent the most time watching, holding, smelling, and basically obsessing over my child - so when I say I think something's wrong, there's probably merit to it. And she listens and helps me fix whatever's wrong. Having her "on my side" is priceless. - You can call her whenever you need her. She has answered my calls (and there have been quite a few) day or night, and has always come to the rescue. - Her first answer isn't always drugs. She helps you treat the cause, not the symptom. … Drugs are an amazing tool, but they aren't always needed. And Iris has shown excellent judgement (in my opinion) in when to give them and when to "watch and wait." - Her office staff are caring and work very hard to make sure that the patients needs are met. Iris has a busy office. But her staff go the extra mile, and it shows. Dr. Iris is a fabulous pediatrician. My only complaint is that she doesn't treat adults :)

I am so thankful I found Dr Iris when I was pregnant with my first baby. I had high standards for what I hoped to find in our pediatrician, and I've been amazed by how she's exceeded all of them! She practices a wonderful blend of Eastern and Western medicine with an emphasis on prevention. She treats her patients like family and is always so compassionate and listens well. As a mother of three, she brings an extra level of understanding and wisdom to her practice. My kids love her and her staff. They love going to her office and actually ask if they can go and see Dr Iris when they're barely sick. She was recently away on medical leave, which I think prompted the negative comment I saw here--which was shocking to see about a dr and office that has always been so wonderful and pleasant to work with. Dr Iris has a fabulous reputation around town and is a wonderful gift to our community.

We are very lucky to have dr iris , she is very observant and treats each baby different based on it's disposition . Also a very good listener .

Dr. Iris is simply the most compassionate, most caring, most knowledgable pediatrician in town. She believes in understanding and treating the whole person (or child), but doesn't hesitate to call in Western medicine when necessary. She is the perfect blend of thoughtful healing and scientific backup. We love her and so do our boys.

I've recommended Dr.Iris to several of my pregnant friends. She bridges the gap between holistic and traditional medicine and keeps on top of the latest issues including vaccinations. Above that, she is a mother herself and is very caring. An excellent, excellent physician all around!

Best blend of personal compassionate care and medical expertise. You can trust her and she does not abuse your confidence. Limited patient list and can be expensive but worth every penny
