Dr. Iris Wertheim, MD

What impressed me most,, is her genuine presence when talking to me. She is a very talented and gifted surgeon. I feel lucky to have her as my surgeon. Just very very lucky.

Dr. Wertheim is the most caring, compassionate surgeon I have ever met. She called me on a weekend to give me test results!!! No doctor has ever done that. Her surgical skills are amazing and I had an easy recovery. I cannot say enough good things about her.

I came to her 3 years ago after my NY gynicologist could not figure out what was wrong with me . I saw her in her Stamford Office at the time . Dr Wertheim was not only kind , and soft spoken and understanding . But she was right to the point about what my options were . She did surgery on me and was the kindest Docter I can say i ever had !!

I cannot praise her enough. From the moment I entered her office, she put me at ease and carefully reviewed my tests and explained their findings and my options with calm, clarity, and compassion. The night before my scheduled surgery with her, she called me at home to see how I was feeling, and enquired if I had any concerns or questions etc. This is the first time a surgeon has ever called me at home the night before a procedure, I had a very successful surgery, and (luckily) a positive outcome. Her postop care of me was first rate: I had a very minor issue with healing (a granular tissue growth) for which I contacted her nurse, whereupon Dr. W had me come in immediately to examine & treat. She is wonderful!

Dr. Wertheim is outstanding. She displays confidence and expertly assesses her patient's medical history, treatment, and expected results. She is candid, realistic, and kind (both in terms of her "bed-side manner" and in terms of how she gently guides one through the treatment process. I have referred her to a number of friends and family members. Everyone has shared the same experience.

Quite upset with the care. Staff sent wrong records. The Office deffered the original request for a consult which led to 3 weeks delay in a diagnosis of an advanced cancer. Labs drawn were indicative for a transfusion and no follow up from the Drs office for 1week. Path results were also delayed for days when we could have started treatment earlier. All this despite that I called the office repeatedly to ask for information. Very disappointed and a bit angry really. Sorry I hope others have a better experience. Dr. W is extremely competent and caring, and very open when seeking partnership/consultation with other professionals within her field. I trust her judgement completely, and have been a patient of hers for years now.
