He threatened to call my grad school and tell them that I was "not ready" to come back to school when I asked about stopping the pills that were making me bald. He lied that he never saw hair loss with this pill and later forgot and said his patients only had a little hair loss and then it went away. He gives this pill to pregnant patients too he admitted, something my primary care was aghast at.

Dr. Avery decided to stop seeing me after a missed appointment, even when I followed through with his request to reach out to the Cognitive Behavioral Therapist he works closely with. I expected better from an older guy who has been doing this for a long time.

Dr. Avery told me at the outset that he was very straightforward and I found this to be very true. He calls you on B***sh*t and pushes you to be honest. But he never pushed too hard and was unfailingly kind, compassionate and sensitive. I always felt cared for and understood. Never felt judged in any way. I do not understand the previous reviewer who called him judgmental and insensitive. But I guess we all react differently to therapists. Not everyone is a good fit.

Dr. Avery is a really skilled professional. He helped me a lot and I am very grateful for his help.

Dr. Avery was extremely judgmental, insensitive, manipulative, and completely unhelpful. After his visit, I felt much worse than when I went in.
