Dr. Isaac Obiri Karikari

Dr. Karikari did my acdf surgery for C4-7 on March 28th. From start to finish he and his staff have been amazing! My surgery has already helped alleviate my nerve damage in my arms. He has the nest bedside manner and is quick to answer any questions. I could not be more pleased with the procedure by Dr. Karikari.

I just recently learned that Dr. Karikari was no longer with Duke and tears rolled down my face. This man was a godsend for me! I had posterior C2-T2 surgery twice, only b/c after #1 I tripped and fell over my dog. Today, I have a good range of motion and no pain. I feel that it was an honor to have him as my surgeon. Not only is he extremely knowledgeable and experienced, he is compassionate, truly cares and has a good sense of humor. He will literally treat you like you were a family member!. I had to have a very difficult neck surgery. I had one surgeon tell me that there was not a doctor in the United States that could correct my neck. I consulted a Neurosurgeon in OKC to help me. He recommend Dr. Karikari to do the surgery. I am so glad he did my surgery. He explained every detail of the surgery, answered all my questions and explained the after-surgery process to me. While I was in the hospital, he checked on me every morning. He is a very skilled surgeon, compassionate and an overall very nice person to have as your doctor. Dr. Karikari saved my life, if he had not done my surgery my vertebra in my neck would have shut off my spinal column.

Dr. Karikari was my doctor at Duke in Durham NC. He was a great surgeon and did an extensive surgery to fix my Scoliosis and some slipped disc in my lumbar area. My Surgery was a big Surgery 15 levels! He done it in less the 8 hours. I hate I lost him as a doctor. The people of Oklahoma are very lucky to have him!!

Dr Karikari was my savior when I was in great pain. After three months of taking all other non surgical options of treatment for my pain which I describe as more than 10 of pain score, I finally decided to try my luck with him. He is an honest surgeon and will tell you whether or not you needed surgery. After three months of sleeping with ice over my leg despite all the treatments(epidural injections, oral steroids, nerve pain pills, muscle relaxants, acupuncture, and chiropractor) which gave no relief, I finally gave up and asked his opinion about my condition(over the phone). After my MRI, he called me right away to tell me the result. I asked him what is the best option for treatment and he said that surgery is the only option to that I will be relieved with the pain. Everything went smooth after that. He did everything virtual due to the pandemic and I got my surgery in two weeks. Hands down, he is an excellent surgeon indeed! My leg pain went away immediately after I woke up! Now… that I developed another symptom from a different site, he listened and paid attention to every symptom I said. As an operating room nurse, he is one of the best surgeon’s that I have worked with and as a patient myself, I can say that He excels in what he does and would highly recommend him to anybody not only for a second opinion but to anyone who needed to have a spine surgery.

Dr Isaac Karikari treated me at Duke University Hospital and the results were nothing short of miraculous. I felt improvement while still in recovery and I continue to feel better each day. My back and legs feel as if I have traveled back in time many years when I was much younger. He and his staff have been a true blessing to me. very professional -- awesome at the surgery he performed and the manner in which he treated and took care of his patient. Explained all that needed to be done, informed her of the risk involved, made sure the recovery was going as planned.. Great bedside manners and can tell he takes his patients health and well being very seriously.. not just another day at the job.. I initially went to Dr. Karikari for a second opinion. He confirmed my previous doctor's diagnosis that I needed a fusion on L4, L5 and S1. I also had a synovial cyst that was creating excruciating pain down both of my legs. I was first seen by Teresa Clayton his PA. She very professional and made me feel comfortable. When Dr. Karikari entered the room I described my journey thus far and then he looked at my MRI and explained everything that was contributing to my pain. He also supported doing a fusion and removing the cyst. I really liked the friendliness of everyone from the parking lot to the receptionist, nurses and even the persons answering the phones when I called with questions. As a result of the confidence and trust exuded by his team I wanted Dr. Karikari to do my surgery. The surgery was very successful and all of the times I asked questions via myChart they were answered very quickly by Teresa. Never felt rushed and no question was too small. I've already told my friends… about Dr. Karkari and they both have given friends of theirs his name based on my experience.

Dr. Karikari GREATLY improved my quality of life when he did a spinal fusion. Before the surgery, I was in tremendous pain and had very limited mobility, but now, just six months after my surgery and recovery, I am a new person and can move, walk, and work just as I did years ago. Also, all the pain is gone! While I respect and admire Dr. Karikari's immense skill and knowledge, I also love his personality and genuine concern for me as a person (and not just a sick, old body). He is the BEST!
