Dr. Isaac Nankine Liu

I didn't have a good experience with Dr. Liu. I needed to have a permanent retainer on my two front teeth repaired. At Dr's Liu's practice, Orthodontic Care Specialists, this task is outsourced to dental assistants, and then he comes in to "check" on how they did. The first time I came in, the dental assistant who was placing my retainer didn't seem to know what she was doing, and as I was walking out of the office I realized that the retainer was preventing me from biting down. Of course, this made eating (and simply closing my mouth) difficult. I felt that if Dr. Liu had properly supervised his assistant this wouldn't have happened. He should have checked to make sure I could bite down before I left. I called the office the next day, and they offered to see me at an office location half an hour a way from me. I initially accepted, but then called back and asked that they get me in at the location I had gone to originally. They did get me in, but I felt that they should have made more… of an effort to do so, considering that the reason for the follow-up appointment was their fault. Today, I had my second appointment. The dental assistant was very understanding, and put her best effort into placing the retainer. However, because it was difficult to place Dr. Liu eventually had to do it. I thought he was rather rude and demanding toward the assistants, and he brusquely informed me to open my mouth wider, oblivious to the fact that I was doing my best. Although the retainer that Dr. Liu placed doesn't interfere with my ability to close my mouth, it still does not lay flat across my teeth the way my old one did. At this point, I have lost confidence in the ability of Dr. Liu and the clinic to place the retainer correctly, and I plan to ask them to remove the retainer and take my business elsewhere.
