Sent me an email that was so uncaring and unprofessional, even Anthem was taken aback and has started formal investigations. Other insurance companies will be notified.

Unprofessional.. poor communication. Unable to reach by phone, never returned emails regarding my medication concerns. He finally emailed me back when he sent an email out saying he could no longer prescribe benzodiazepines. Which was fine, I was also on another medication I had concerns about. Instead of addressing my concerns as a professional he insulted me basically saying I was asking for more pills. I went into details of the issues of was having and he showed no sympathy, or concern. But that he has nothing to with that I was dealing with and should seek another provider. I wouldn’t recommend him to an anyone .. not even an animal.

I have several concerns about this physician. As a new patient, my first appointment was very short and impersonal. After that appointment I was receiving insurance through short term disability and FLMA, which was eventually denied due to lack of response from Dr. Wood to submit his part of the paperwork . I was sent how and when the insurance company tried to contact him through their claim documentation. He was unresponsive over 5 failed attempts! He also had issues receiving payment from the insurance company because of this and sent me a personal email telling me I needed to take care of this or I would be responsible for all charges... as a patient, this made me so uncomfortable! I called the insurance company, who informed me they issued him the check and he had yet to cash it (they even gave me the date and check number to relay to him). I contacted him to try to make sure he received what he needed. He did not return my calls and/or emails. After this, I cancelled my last… appointment, which he still billed me for as if I went and re-billed me for a payment he had already cashed. This is by far the worst medical treatment I've ever received and I would not recommend him to anyone! Dr. Wood also needs administrative help because he runs a horrible practice.

The few visits I’ve have with Dr. Wood has been very good, I have felt comfortable talking to him about my issues and he has seemed very receptive and understanding about the diagnosis of my problems.

Best psychiatrist I’ve ever had. Great choice if you’re in the Richmond area.

I have never been to a practice where the doctor directly answers the telephone and schedules my appointment. I never have to wait. Dr. Wood is kind, compassionate and goes out of his way to assure that my needs are met. He is probably the best physician I have ever had and I would highly recommend him to anyone.

Dr Wood takes his time, is open and honest with his patients and spoke to me in a manner in which I could understand.

Dr. Wood has been enormously helpful in the treat of my depression and anxiety. He is caring, thoughtful, and more thorough than any previous psychiatrist I've seen in my 15 years of taking medication. He is warm, kind and personable–traits that can sometimes feel rare in this profession. I do not understand why so many have chosen to give him one-star!
