Dr. Isela Werchan, MD

I was referred to Dr. Isela Werchan from Sherpaa, the online doctor app. I called to make an appointment with Dr. Werchan, and while her admin was super nice, she warned me that Dr. Werchan is 'not currently taking insurance'. I said okay--how much would a visit cost? It is $400 for the first 'consultation' (for one hour) and then $200 there on after. Who on earth can afford this?! I am a single woman earning ~$120K a year, and I still cannot comprehend how a doctor--someone who is supposed to help people--can fathom charging people this much for her time. I hope she spits out gold with her words because I don't understand what else would warrant a consultation for an hour being $400. It really is a sad shame, and I would never want to work with a doctor who was this financially motivated. Especially considering Austin is an affordable city--how does she justify such a high 'intro consultation cost'? It really baffles me. Doesn't sound like she has any interest in helping people… whatsoever.

Dr. Werchan saved my life during the hardest time I have ever been through. She even called to check in and make sure I was OK. She listened and advocated for me when I was too weak to speak for myself. Truly one in a billion.

She may or may not be a good psychiatrist but I wouldn’t be able to tell you because even though she takes our insurance she is not currently excepting patients with insurance. There was an expectation of pay My out of pockets before the visit if $400. My guess is she’s not a good doctor cause to me a great doctor cares. My husband is in desperate need of a psychiatrist and this is the only one who could get him in right awa that takes our insurance. Even though this doctor has a contract to take our insurance we were told we would HAVE to pay out of pocket $400 before seeing her. $400 that we do not have. I wouldn’t trust going here by any means.
