Dr. John Chrisman Hawk III, MD

This Dr. and the entire staff have been wonderful. I knew he was great in his field but once I met w/him and he gave me the diagnosis I felt the world lift from me. He deserves at least a rating of 15 stars, not 5. He will be doing surgery shortly on me and I am completely satisfied.

Most thorough doctors examination I’ve ever experienced. Also great conversationalist.He is extremely professional and intelligent with a great bedside manner. He came quickly to a diagnosis for me

I had a surgery for a Thyroidectomy in 2011 and had a complication during the surgery that lead to another surgery the next morning. Been in SEVERE pain since this happened and although Dr. Hawke wasn't the surgeon who did the Thyroidectomy...I went to him seeking help to try and determine this horrible pain I'm having. I have been told by a few doctors that it could be scar tissue and nerve damage but eventually I was lead to Dr. Hawks door by my Oncologist. Dr. Hawke never examined me or touched me....all I did was sit down and answer a few questions, some which were very odd, even asking my husband personal questions and his conclusion was "I am having panic attacks" I live with a horrific pain that has altered my life in every way. Where are the doctors that actually examine their patients and set up test results to try and determine the cause of such pain? I truly have no words that can express the let down and the insults from this visit. I had such high hopes for this visit… today but will keep pushing. Hopefully I will get an answer before this takes my life.

I went to Dr. Hawk for 2 operations. He did a breast biopsy when an mammogram showed crystalization in one breast. He correctly diagnosed LCIS, a zero stage breast cancer. He recommended that I take part in a breast cancer study where study participants would receive either tamoxifen or Evista to prevent LCIS from turning into malignant cancer. I chose not to take part in the study as my gynecologist, a female, had been a participant herself, who couldn't tolerate the side effects of tamoxifen. I decided to go on Evista, which I did for 6 years. The second time Dr. Hawk operated on my was to remove a parathyroid gland discovered in a routine physical by my internist. No further treatment was requiered. I loved Dr. Hawk. He is a very compassionate and caring as a doctor, however since I had a very strong family history of breast cancer, I wanted to have genetic testing done to see if I had the BRCA1 or 2 gene which common in Ashkenazi Jewish women. He didn't think there was any… reason to do the test, because he said, "What will you do, if you are positive, lop off your breasts?" That is exactly what other oncologists are recommending. I went to another doctor to get the genetic testing and it turned out negative. The other doctor was not half as decent a person as Dr. Hawk.
