Dr. Joe Nnaemeka Onwuta, MD

Terrible doctor and is a liar. Wrote multiple things in my doctors notes that were lies. Doesn't know what he is doing either. I kept telling him about my diagnosis and he kept writing things in my doctors notes that contradicted my diagnosis. I've had some good doctors at Advocate but Onwuta was the worst by a mile.

Please if you care about ur self Do Not Trust DR ONWUTA!!! DO NOT PUT UR TRUST In THIS DOCTOR!! PLUS You will Never be able to talked to this doctor he NEVER answer you calls or ur sending messages I’m a 57yr old disabled woman and this doctor I saw for 7 yrs kicked me out of caring for me!!! Been on meds for 11yrs and was told good bye good luck!!!!! DO NOT TRUST THIS DOCTOR!!!

Terrible inexperienced people working for onwuta!! By law a pain doctor canNot just say hey I’m not seeing u anymore here’s one more script and that’s it!!! No that’s not it if I can not get an appointment with a good pain doctor then onwuta by law has to continue to see me till I get my new appointment t with a good caring compassionate pain doctor!!! I will call an experienced medical lawyer and find out my rights as if right now!!!!!! Watch out u don’t want to be treated like this from this office!!! You should find a better place to get help this ain’t the one!!!!

After being diagnosed with CRPS I went in to see Dr. Onwuta with my boyfriend to see if he could handle my pain management and do sympathetic nerve blocks. He said he did not believe my diagnosis but would still do sympathetic nerve blocks. What kind of doctor says I don’t believe you but I will still sticking needles in your spine? My boyfriend became furious and I told him I didn’t understand why he would treat something that he didn’t believe that I had. Now I am blacklisted from the office altogether! This guy is rude, full of himself and doesn’t listen to a word that the patient says. The office people there are extremely rude as well! They definitely don’t care about people who are suffering!

apparently he only treats back aches and no other pain. if you have any other pain he will call you an addict, but then turn around and give you dilaudid. this little gem is stronger than most of the hydrocodone you can be on. so if you are calling them an addict, why would you give them a stronger version of the medicine that they are "addicted" to. he is the worst, he claims to "know everything" when you ask him if he knows what your disease is, but cannot seem to tell the symptoms or pain levels involved.

My experience to date with Dr. Onwuta has been very comfortable , as well as reassuring . At first he was a bit slow in determining the root cause of my long battle with chronic pain of 11 years , which entailed 8 different surgical interventions to no avail . Then I started to understand his reasoning and his methodical concept in isolating each area of the anatomy , which together we are continuing . Through a process of elimination of so many different intrical parts of the anatomy , I truly believe we will succeed in finally find the core of the issue , along with the aid of my other Specialists .

Trying to get an appointment with Dr referral when I told my medical history and why I needed pain management they went with a condition Dr was still exploring and denied me my appointment I called for a second appointment having everything and telling them change of insurance I was cancelled day before appointment for insurance which they accept the lady I had to talk to lacks empathy and cancels appointments I told her it is not her job to accept patients and I demanded to talk to office manager or the Dr himself as I was a transfered patient from another pain clinic that is now closed she denied me to talk to anyone else I then said I was coming in to talk to Dr to see what he had to say she repeated over and over she will deny me to go through the door and repeated to argue with me for 45 mins I hung up. If dr Onwuta reads this I want you to know how bad your office personal are and making it hard for pain patients to be treated I check again and I see my insurance listed as I was… told with 2nd appointment my insurance is fine.

What a wonderful doctor! I have been to several pain management doctors over the past four years and when I moved to Chicago my husband and I looked for me a new pain management doctor we came across Dr. Onwuta and what a blessing he has been to us. He has to have the most caring nature of any doctor I have ever been to.

2 month wait time for new patients but did spend a significant amount of time reviewing MRI/X-Ray results. Polite person but likes his cell phone too much. Effective use of pharmaceuticals but not so much for the alternate options (i.e cortisone shots). Kinda rough for pt. experiencing pain. 1 month wait time for regular visits.
