Dr. J. William Sparks, MD

Dr. J. William Sparks, MD, is a senior associate in Perioperative Anesthesia in the Department of Anesthesiology, Critical Care and Pain Medicine at Boston Children’s Hospital and an assistant professor of anaesthesia at Harvard Medical School. Board certified in both anesthesiology and pediatric anesthesiology, he specializes in pediatric perioperative anesthesia and the care of children undergoing complex surgical procedures. Dr. Sparks earned his medical degree from SUNY Buffalo School of Medicine and completed his anesthesiology residency at the Naval Medical Center in San Diego, followed by fellowship training in pediatric anesthesiology at Boston Children’s Hospital. In addition to his clinical work, he has held leadership roles in operating room management and perioperative care improvement, and he is recognized for his patient-centered, safety-focused approach to pediatric anesthesia care.
