Dr. Jack Lynn Hollins, MD

Dr. Hollins really cares about his patients. He is very, very good at what he does. I have heard from other doctors he is the best there is.

I have been a patient of Dr. Hollins for over a decade. I find him to be an Outstanding Physician. He has a very calm demeanor and makes you feel as though your his only patient. He always explains every procedure completely and Never talks down to you. He always wants to make sure you have a complete understanding of everything. Friendly, Compassionate and Professional. He really cares about you and insures your getting the best treatment possible. I only wish there were more Physicians like Dr. Hollins.

This review covers many visits and two surgeries over a period of 6 years. I first went to see Doctor Hollins for a partial detachment of my retina in my left eye. I was sitting in my recliner one evening and had a sever pain in my eye. The next day I noticed I had an adnormal number of floaters in my left eye. After a little research on the internet late that day I realized I should seek treatment quickly. I called Dr. Hollin's office ad got an appointment for early the next morning as a work-in. Doctor Hollins has been treating me ever since, and I have had no reoccurrence of my problem. Since that first appointment, Dr. Hollins has performed 2 surgeries on my eyes with very good results. The only complaint I have against Dr. Hollins,s office is the amount of time I have had to wait to see him at times. Sometimes the wait is 2 hours or more. The later in the day you have an appointment, usually the longer you have to wait to see him. If you make an early morning… appointment your wait time is minimal. His waiting room is almost always full. Over the years I have learned why the wait time is so long. First, he always tries to work in a patient that has an emergency type problem with one of their eyes, like I had when I first saw him. Second, Dr. Hollins always takes as much time as required to complete a though exam of my eyes with no regard as to how many patients are waiting to see him in his waiting room or how far behind he is. When Dr. Hollins walks into the exam room he is always very personable and interested in me as a patient. He never acts like he is in a hurry to move on to the next patient regardless of how far behind he is. He always gives me time to ask questions before leaving the room. If I did not know better I would think I was his only patient for the day. I highly recommend him.

He has saved my eye sight many times..

I went to Dr. Hollins deeply concerned about a hole in my retina that is causing huge problems-lightening flashes, black and white floaters on a constant on and off basis and reduced eye sight but which I hope can get better. The waiting room was huge and completely packed. Only a couple of seats available. I had never seen so many patients waiting to see only one doctor. This gave me great pause. It was a two hour and twenty minute wait before I saw the doctor. He started going through different tests with my eyes. Finally, he said he was going to tap on the corner of my eye where the retinal hole was. Suddenly he shoves his finger into my eye and starts pressing hard. I yelped. It was very painful and he did it four or five times in quick succession and I was almost falling off of the chair to get away, my head pulling away but he kept on and told me, "You came here but you must not want help because you wouldn't complain like this." I said, "It hurt extremely much… when you did that." He became hostile. "Well," he said "if you can't buck up you don't want help." I was completely stunned and my eye was in a lot of pain from his pushing his finger into my eye . When I tried to ask questions about laser surgery for my retinal hole or other forms of treatment he was abrupt. He ran through information very quickly and with no pauses. Questions seemed to cause him impatience. I felt completely bewildered and hit with limited information but asked to make a decision then and there. He said, "Are you going to get the freezing treatment or not. I don't have time for you. I have other patients." Indeed he still had a full room of patients- the waiting room had stayed full throughout my time there. Finally, I told Dr. Hollins that I thought he was being very defensive. He turned hostile and told me he wasn't going to treat me. I had never yelled or talked badly. I was very visibly upset but had tried to articulate very clearly how deeply upsetting and unprofessional I thought his behavior was. I was extremely rattled by his behavior. He stood looking at me with an odd expression. I thought for a second that he had been listening and maybe he was going to apologize and we could end at least on a decent human level as it had taken a lot to get there. I had taken over two hours to get to his office on the bus in the rain. But he did not apologize. To say the least. Dr. Hollins in a cold and unsettling manner told me, "Are you finished ranting?" He had heard nothing and completely dismissed my upset and my genuine communication. I left the office with my eyes heavily dilated and hurting from the deep shoving of his finger onto the retinal hole and walked in the rain back to the bus stop greatly bewildered. The whole time I was waiting I kept thinking how can one doctor handle this unbelievably high volume of patients and do it right, not be rude or stressed out and give people proper time, treatment, and attention. Well, in my experience I found Dr. Hollins' behavior outrageously rude and disrespectful and I felt very traumatized and I indeed found out for myself that one human being surely cannot and should not have such an over-the-top number of patients and expect to provide the calm, balanced, undefensive, non-traumatizing and respectful behavior patients deserve...
