Dr. Jack Yeou Hsiao, MD

He stayed late to see me when I was miscarrying. He was very kind and was able to answer all of the questions I had with much patience.

Dr. Hsaio is an excellent physician. He has been my obgyn for over 10 years and through the birth of my first child and now my second. His demeanor is very calm and steady which I find to be an ideal trait in a person who performs surgeries. He will sit there and answer every question you have until you as a patient are satisfied. At one of my earlier visits he did not detect a heartbeat- he remained completely calm and I broke down- everything is OK, but what you want in a doctor is a person who doesn't panic. I think a lot of people are mistaking his demeanor as being standoffish, but I don't take it that way hence the difference in rating vs. some other people on this site.

I recently saw Dr. Hsiao only because my regular OBGYN was on vacation. I needed to be seen right away because I am a high risk pregnancy with history of miscarriages. He performed a transvaginal ultrasound and said there's no heartbeat yet. Yolksac looked nice and round. He wanted me to schedule a follow up appointment a week after to check if there's any heartbeat. He didn't even measure the yolksac and did not give me any information about my pregnancy. I told him that I felt very bloated and he said that's good. He didn't offer any additional information nor explanation of why there's no heartbeat present during the ultrasound. I never experienced this kind of treatment before.

Terrible bedside manners!!!!! Impersonal, unapproachable, and acts as if you are wasting his time!!! I would never recommend ANY woman pregnant or not to go to him! He makes you feel stupid. Doesn’t want to give you the time of day. I wish I could take it all back. Never meet him. I seriously think people like this should stick to research you do not belong at a patients bedside with an attitude like that!!! I hope this helps people not to go to him! DONT waste your time with him!!!!!

I recently saw Dr. Hsiao only because my regular gyn was not able to get me in for a appointment. I needed to be seen right away because I was having on going-worsen pelvic pain and questionable vaginal bleeding (that I know is not my normal cycle) he came into the exam room annoyed from the start. I think I even saw him roll his eyes at his nurse. I wanted to say ummm excuse me did you just roll your eyes at me?!? Instead, I just let it go.. he wasn’t able to help me much. He was only able to do a swab. He then instructed me to follow up with my regular doctor. He is very short, seems like he gets annoyed at patients. I decided I’m better off following up with my regular doctor. Just not worth it!

Dr Hsiao is the most amazing, caring doctor! I switched to him after I had my third child and I was having complications and my current md was not listening to my concerns. I contacted Dr Hsiao and he quickly diagnosed the problem and literally saved my life. He shows such compassion and is always willing to take the time to listen to his patients and answer any and all questions that they have. I have recommended him time and again to friends and family and they all have been thrilled with their care. I trust him and I could not be happier with the care that I have received!

I went to see Dr. Hsiao after seeing one of his partners at a different location. I was referred to him for my minimally invasive surgery, which my own doctor did not perform. He spent as long as I needed to address all of my questions about the surgery, how long it would probably take, and how quickly I would be back to work (2 weeks after major surgery!) He also reviewed the alternatives to surgery, taking into consideration my personal needs. He made me feel at ease, and very caring manner addressed all of my concerns. Not once did I feel rushed, nor did I feel condescended to. Even though I was sent to him as a referral, not once did he try to persuade me to choose him to do my surgery. At the end of the appointment I felt relieved, and most importantly well informed of my options to treat my condition (I had fibroids). Day of my surgery, he came to see me in advance of going to the operating room, took my hand and assured me that he was going to do the best he could during… my surgery. I couldn't have felt more relieved! My surgery was quick and uncomplicated; I awoke and wasn't even sure the surgery had been done. I had some small bandages on my stomach and felt just a little sore. I spent the night at the hospital, and the nurses there told me that rarely has Dr. Hsiao had a complication with his surgeries, and that all of them leave the next morning without a hitch. I couldn't recommend Dr. Hsiao enough, I would gladly see him again and wouldn't hesitate to have any of my family see him as well.

I am about 11 weeks pregnant, first time mom. I went into my first appointment with Dr Hsiao, happy, excited and a little nervous. I left feeling extremely disappointed. He never asked me how my pregnancy has been, how I was feeling, anything about my families medical history regarding pregnancy. He didn't offer up ANY information that might be valuable to a first time mom navigating through her first pregnancy. In fact, he told me nothing, unless I specifically asked him about it first. He would sit there staring at me in silence until me or my husband asked him a question and then he would give us a brief answer unless we would pry him for more. His attitude was smug, and impatient. He seemed annoyed with me when I was confused, and had questions about some of the genetic screenings and instead pushed me towards getting an amnio. (this is my first pregnancy, there is no family history that would call for getting this potentially risky test at this point.) I told him I would rather… get the screening test done first, and if I felt there was a need to go further at that point I might consider it. He seemed annoyed at this and just continued to explain how screening tests are unreliable and can give false results. Yes, I understand that, but they are also non-invasive and don't come with a relatively high chance of miscarriage. Especially since I'm young, and there is no reason to think that there is even anything wrong at this point. He rushed through my ultrasound. The first time my husband or myself got to experience the heartbeat and seeing our baby. That was also disappointing. He didn't say anything about it when he finished, instead he waited for us to ask him specifically if everything looked alright for this stage. He gave us a brief "yes". And that was all he said. This could have been an extremely positive and exciting appointment for us had he been a little warmer, and acted like he cared about our experience. Instead I felt like we were wasting his time, and pushing his patience. Which discouraged me from addressing any of the questions that I had prepared for the appointment. As soon as I left the appointment, I promptly called and requested a new doctor. Hopefully my review will save others the same headache. This is an important and exciting time in many couples lives, and it should be treated as such by your caregiver.

Terrible bedside manners! He asks a question then is impatient when you respond. He seems to prefer that you respond with "yes" or "no" and makes you feel like you can't say a word more or you're an idiot. If you say more, he interrupts when you are speaking mid-sentence and talks over you. He does not return phone calls when you call the office. This doctor is all about his ego. I'm surprised at Sharp because I usually love their doctors.

Just had a colposcopy and endometrial biopsy (referred by my primary care due to abnormal pap) with Dr. Hsiao. He spent a good amount of time answering my questions. He was approachable and friendly enough.
