Dr. Jack L Katz, MD

Dr Katz is by far the best psychiatrist I have ever known. He has helped me with various levels of PTSD, including nightmares, while understanding that more medication is not always the best solution.

It's funny; this guy had nothing but negative reviews (and some created false ones). However, he deleted his profile so he could start again. What a terrible person who others think is a terrible doctor.

First off, if you value your confidentiality, be aware that Dr. Katz's leaves his phone on speakerphone. When a patient calls, his secretary calls and the FULL NAME, including LAST NAME of the patient calling is fully audible to the patient who is in the room. (he does not speak to the patient who is on the phone, in front of the other patient-at least he did not when I was in the room !) This happened on two recent visits of mine to him. Obviously, when I call, my name is being revealed to whomever is in his office.To me this is clear breach of Dr.-Patient Confidentiality,and was nonplussed and horrified by this practice of his and feel traumatized.I can't imagine why Dr. Katz does not realize he is breaching Dr. Patient Confidentiality when he does this, but I lack courage in broaching the subject with him.Instead, I will be looking for another Dr. It was very hard to find a Dr. who took my insurance, and I had high hopes for Dr. Katz, who is in Castle Connelly as one of the top… Doctors in New York.I have an eating disorder,and thought he would help me with this. Instead ,he seemed intent on delving into my childhood, though he aware that I am seeing a psychologist for psychotherapy.I had gone to Dr. Katz strictly for medication management.The questions Dr. Katz asked me were disturbing and his type of "therapy" ,aside from the fact that I did not need a second therapist, was upsetting rather than helpful.He has come across to me as critical and judgmental as a "therapist".I had very high hopes for Dr. Katz as a psychiatrist and have been greatly disappointed.
