What can I say? My life was a mess. I was a mess. I thought I was depressed. I knew I was anxious and I ruminated ALL THE TIME. I went to see my friend's doctor and he spent 15 minutes with me and said I needed Prozac. I didn't like his approach so i didn't fill the prescription. Dr. Haverly's name was on a list covered by my insurance company so I called him. He actually answered and spent 15 minutes listening to my problems. I cried. I told him I was drinking too much. I told him I was in big time financial trouble;. He just listened. He had me come in for a two hour evaluation where he asked a ton of questions. Near the end of the two hours he asked me what I knew about ADD in adults. I knew nothing. He said I had a lot of strong ADHD features and he wanted to check it out a bit more. So he gave me a book (Driven to Distraction - I still have it today) Oh, he said I could keep it. And he gave me some handouts on women and ADHD (my life story in every one of them) and a… questionare with 100 adult ADHD sympomts. OMG I had no idea. It all makes sense now. So I owe him big time. He got me started on meds then I moved away and ran out. I came back last year and my life was a mess again. Then I came across that book he gave me and it had his phone number inside. So I'm back seeing him and back on my meds. What a difference and he didn't make me feel asahamed because I dropped out for a while. I feel like he really cares about me and I KNOW he believes in me.I can't recommend him high enough.
