Dr. Jacob Lawrence Camp

Dr. Camp had an easy manner to him. Very chill. I liked that he took time with me and made feel better.

He was good. Took care of me.

I went to the ER tonight because I am passing another kidney stone. I have many and I already have an appointment with my urologist in 2 days. When Dr. Camp came in the first thing he began discussing with me was about how many CT scans I've had, saying I should be glowing I've had so many. He immediately follows this up with saying he wants to get another image even though my current CT scan was barely a month old. He went straight to imaging before doing any blood work, a urinalysis - in fact, I'm the one who asked if he wanted me to pee in a cup. He replied with "Oh, yeah. Could you that now?" He ended up not doing any imaging deciding instead to go off of my blood work and my urinalysis. While I had zero white blood cells I had large amounts of blood in my urine. I also did not have a high amount of lactic acid which means I do not have an infection. Even with all of this, Dr. Camp came in and told me he thinks is a chronic issue like with back pain and I need to be aware of my… opiate intake. I have had chronic back issues in the past to the point I now have 6 screws and 2 titanium rods fused into my lower back. This is not anywhere close to the same thing. I was not, I am not, I will not ever be drug seeking and passing kidney stones would be a poor way to do it. It's not something you can fake. I realize the opioid epidemic is a major social issue but placing everyone underneath that umbrella leaves many patients receiving substandard care. When I found out Dr. Camp was a DO it made better sense why he acted the way and treated me the way he did. And he reinforced my disdain for DO's. While I fully support the use of holistic methods, there are times when pure, clinical science is needed, and DO's typically tend to avoid these times. Hopefully, Dr. Camp's future patients will receive a higher quality of care, not made to feel like they're making up their ailments when they're so clearly in front of him in black and white, and will have been treated with a little more dignity and class.
