I was desperate to transfer my critically ill father who was on a breathing machine, from his current hospital to MGH The hospital he was currently at was not providing the proper care he needed. The only way according to Mass laws to transfer a patient from one hospital to another to another is that it has to be approved by current physician and accepting physician and there has to be a bed available. I was stuck and frustrated my hands were tied because my father was on the breathing machine and I could not just discharge him take him home and call MGH. My father was dying. No other hospital would accept him. Out of desperation I left detailed message with MGH CEO, Dr David Torchiana at 3pm. The very next morning Dr Jacob Johnson called me and notified my father's current hospital that he would accept my father immediately. My father was transferred that very day in fact within hours!!!! My father, my family and I are eternally grateful to Dr. Johnson. He saved my father's life! … The world needs more compassionate doctors like Dr. Johnson. Dr. Johnson thank you so very much. Once my father recovers he will be seeing Dr Johnson for family medicine, with no hesitation. We are so blessed and lucky to have found Dr Johnson.
