Dr. Jacob Widroff, MD

I met Widroff at my lowest point in life, and he managed to make me worse. If I looked around the room or out the window, he berated me. If I moved my Zoom device in telehealth appointments, he berated me. I would have to sit in freeze mode the entire time to avoid his wrath. Certain clinicians at the intensive outpatient facility practically begged me to report him, since other patients had horrible experiences with this guy, but like I said, I was at my lowest and had no energy. Now I am ready. I recall someone else in a group therapy session saying they disassociated for days after their appointment with Widroff. He will scream at you for any mistake. Maybe there is a class of patients he can respect, but I am not in that group. He will threaten, yell, show absolute disgust for normal human behavior like not realizing your new sleep med must be taken daily, not as needed. I will never see another psychiatrist in my life. I wish this man the absolute worst. Do not see him unless you… want to speed up the process of ending your own life. He needs serious mental help.

My wife was a patient of his and felt degraded, intimidated, and shamed by him and his utter lack of human decency when treating her. Her depression was worse after his treat of her, and she was afraid to trust another psychiatrist after her experience with Dr. Widroff.

This doctor lacks any kind of compassion, empathy, or bedside manner. I felt disrespected, talked down to, and belittled. He was rude and condescending.

I’m not sure what these other reviews are about. I find him nothing short of pleasant and a pleasure to work with.

jacob is self absorbed, rude, and condescending. for someone that works in a mental health treatment facility, he sure does have a way of making people feel worse. if you're unlucky enough to have an appointment with him, you should expect to be hushed, interrupted, silenced, talked down to, and overall treated as if you're stupid. god forbid you have some type of clue about your condition that he didn't point out first. he'll be sure to tell you just how uneducated you are because you dont have a million framed pieces of paper hanging in your office like he does (but then he'll tell you the exact same thing that you told him as if it was his idea). if you dont fit into the norm, save yourself. any intelligence will be ignored unless it's working to feed his massive old ego. so while you're sitting in the chair watching him squeeze his eyes shut and cover his face with his hands as if you are the most irritating and horrible person alive, take that time to find a different… psychiatrist.
