Dr. Jaime Lopez Mayoral, MD

True story. A year ago Dr. Mayoral requested a CT Scan prior to rectal surgery on me. Dr. Mayoral never informed me that the CT Scan and CEA testing showed I had Stage IV Rectal/Liver cancer. This doctor had two months to review the CT Scan and in his professional duty to inform me that I had cancer. He never did. Now I am fighting for my life.

Dr. Mayoral has been my doctor for many years. His expertise and quality care for his patients are impeccable.

At 3 months of my husband's colorectal surgery, we are grateful to Doctor Jaime Mayoral. My husband was diagnosed with stage 3 colon cancer., and was suggested to take radiation and chemotherapy for 3 months, before we started this medication treatments we went to see Doc Mayoral for second opinion and evaluation. He advised my husband not to take any chemotherapy nor radiation, he explained that would only make the colon resection more difficult to heal and made his job harder. We could not believe that the Oncologist had prescribed this treatment without looking out for the surgeons opinion. God lead us to Doc Mayoral since we were so scared of the Cancer therapy, the day of the appointment Doc. Mayoral gave my husband an appointment in less than a week for resection of the intestine and assured us he would be well in no time . Surgery went well in 2 hours he was out of surgery without needing a colostomy , which that was my husband fear and concern. We had little… complication with post surgical recovery since he developed a intestinal leak and and infection., here is the only problem I saw and would say Doc. Mayoral needs to be more conservative and cautious on the post surgical care and not allow full diet days after surgery and better communication skills, sometimes seem like they are always rushing , lol . My husband recovered well and today got news NO post chemo or radiation will be needed. We are so thankful to GOD first of all he embraced our fears and lighten our path everyday. Dr Mayoral and his staff are excellent. When I had my surgery, everyone was so caring and he was wonderful. He checked on me and his bedside manner was was wonderful. He took time with me and answered questions and made sure I understood the next steps. When I had an issue post-surgery (not his issue - turns out I had a new issue that had developed) - he was quick to see me and reassure me that there was no issue with my surgery and to help me get to the right doctor. Again - just really caring and confident and made me feel like I was the only patient even though he had a room full of patients waiting. He wasn't rushed, he took his time, he was calm and did a full exam. I was so surprised because so many doctors I have seen would just so a cursory look and send me away. I would go back to Dr Mayoral if I ever needed to have any kind of surgery that was in his purview. His staff is equally generous with their time and assistance in the office. They are awesome!

Can not understand how this doctor is recommended by anyone except for maybe having an older reputation. Found him to be rushed and uncaring and sloppy. Nobody wants this from a doctor let alone someone who might operate on them.

Dr. Mayoral diagnosed me with anal cancer. He performed surgery and I received radiation therapy. This was done in 2001. He has always made me feel comfortable in his examinations and I consider him to be an excellent doctor.

this dr. Did a procedure on me that should never have been done. It got infected and I will have to have my whole pelvic floor rebuilt. He mismanaged my case from the start. He does a lot of free cases and is too busy to care or have any energy to give his patients. Do not use him, please.

Following a colonoscopy, I had a new anal fissure, which caused extreme pain. Dr. Mayoral first said it was a hemorrhoid and put a rubber band on it. After a month more of pain, he said it was a fissure and gave me a med to help cure it. I begged for a pain med and he gave me that. I changed doctors.

Saved my life at VA--own him alot --- still see him every 6 mos--still have NO fistulas--great guy

Had a colon resection in 2005 at the age of 40. I still go back for regular checkups. Liked him so much asked if he would remove my gall bladder for me a year ago - he did! Not a fan of many doctors but am a big fan of his. You won't find a better surgeon anywhere!
